Old Timer knives

my dad has carried a 18OT for at least 20 years, he's been through quite a few. he doesn't just casually use them, he USES them, he is also a hunter and has field dressed an entire deer with one. i think he's been through about 5 in the last 10 years.

Update on my Old Timer 180T:
I 'lost' the new one already. A friend tried using a POS Chinese knife to get into some well secured cardboard boxes. After a bit he gave up on the mini 110 knock off and asked to borrow my knife. I handed him the 180T and he decided he had to have it. I couldn't resist retiring a POS, so I gave in. Off to the Sportsman's Warehouse for yet another Old Timer..
This time I bought a 1080T, the three blade mini. I really like the spey blade, something about that shape brings back memories of camping trips or scouting campouts. I seem to use the Sheepsfoot blade the most tho-
While there, I also bought it's slightly bigger brother, the 340T. I really like both of these knives and I've invested several hours cleaning up a few rough edges and polishing them to where they are pocket jewelry. A bit of time on the Sharpmaker has all three blades on both of them amazingly sharp.
I find that the 1080T is the perfect size to carry in slacks and Dockers and the 340T wears great in Levi's.
I hope to keep both of these for a long time.

This is great, I register and the first place I stop into has a thread about my favorite knives. Lets see, I have a 8OT, 123OT, 96OT, 3 125OT's(large single blade folding hunter, my favorite pattern), 2 225OT's(one has normal configuration, the other has a large saw blade instead of the skinning blade), 156OT(fixed blade caper), 16OT, and a 15OT. I just love these knives, they are the All-American, pickup trucks of the knife world. Rugged, versatile, and priced so that most folks can afford them. I wish Schrade would bring back some of the great old patterns that they have discontinued, but it seems that the company is going in a different direction and I'll have to content myself with what can be found on ebay. Also you caught me, no OT in my pocket this moment. I am carrying another Schrade if thats close enough.

Welcome to the forums. The beer is in the fridge and the nuts are all over the board. ;)

In case you haven't found it yet, under the "Makers/Mfgs" section there is an entire Schrade forum. Hope you enjoy it here.

One of my EDCs is an 8OT that I have had for a couple of years. I carry it in a custom (home) made horizontal belt holder.
Has great edges on the 3 blades, but easily dulls with heavy use.
I don't mind in the least, as sharpening up to razor edge again is part of the fun of being a knife nut!
