I would love to see this "Really Old English Stag" thread keep going. I am loving these old knives. There is a joy to seeing knives that have truly seen lives of use.

What you arent seeing is the ones I didnt buy including some superb sportsman/horse knifes.

An old English folding saw similar in size to the opinel saw and one beautiful folding wooden handled knife the size of a small sword.

And much, much more hes a new seller in the Antique centre,I will return. 😁

I will admit to spending way over budget,if I had kids I would have them out shoeless, sweeping chimneys and the like 18 hours a day (joking). 🤣

I get confused are some of mine bone and not stag?

A description of the rope knife.

Firstly its a beast,it feels so strong and capable.

The handle is the perfect size and design for a strong, comfortable grip it just feels right.

The pull to half stop with a thunk is strong yet perfect as there is a lot of blade to pinch so even I with my weak hands I can open it with ease.

Carrying on to fully open there is another strong satisfying thunk, you feel the blade is now fully secure to use (as much as any slipjoint can be).

The balance is perfect,it feels like a tough knife designed for tough work in hard conditions.

I just wish I had a boat and some heavy rope I could try it out on,it feels like a very special, unique knife. 😁

This is the first rope knife ive seen let alone handled, just wish it was UK friendly. 😇

Oh and it’s over 100 years old as well. 😎
