Have any of you ever heard of Old World Anvils? If so is their equipment pretty good? I want to buy some new equipment to go with all of my antique stuff, and they seem to have fairly reasonable prices(I think).

Thanks Bradley

All that I've heard about them has been pretty good. Be prepared to clean up the horn with an angle grinder and a flap wheel, but they're decent cast steel anvils.

You might also want to take a look at EuroAnvils. John is a great guy to deal with and the anvils are an excellent deal.

They're decent quality cast steel anvils. They'll get the job done and are better than much of the junk you will find out there. In most instances, they're quite comparable to a good hay budden or peterwright in terms of useability, the quality of modern steels being higher than that available when the older ones were manufactured. The best anvils right now tend to be the peddinghaus ones, with some of the smaller companies like nimba and euroanvil producing very good ones too.

You will need to use a few flap wheels and disks to 'finish' the anvil after you get it. But overall likely a decent investment.

Yes, Old world anvils are a good quality anvil to work on, I have been looking at one of them myself for a while. I want to warn you about the Peddinghaus anvils, the anvil plant in Germany has shut down. most of the hand tools have been moved to france, but the equipment for anvils was too expensive to move. Ridgid purchased the equipment and is moving it to china. :(
