older 110 question.

As to the question of the sheath for the knife in question.....here's a thread with some great pics of old sheaths.

I think your sheath is discussed there, Packrat.....by you. :) Looks like it's an Atchison. Only one I ever saw!

You got a rare sheath there.

Strangely enough, nobody (including me) noticed or mentioned it at that time!

:)

BTW.......that thread is rich with sheath info and well worth saving.

Good Research there.
I knew there has been a lot of sheath threads and had forgot about that one, and that Atchison, as you called it, is the thin one laying here. The others are wide enough that I can put the back stamped knife in it and easily run a bic pen down in there with it.
Both of those have rivets in the sheath.

Sorry I contaminated your thread with sheath stuff, Dave.

Here's the sheath for my Third Version Ninth Variation (just like PDs 110 inverted right-side stamp).

This measures slightly less than two inches across the top as compared to 2 1/8 inches on a Two-Dotter sheath.

These were late '68 to '69 (well, mine was, anyhow).

These two look like yours, but these have rivets at the top of the pocket/pouch where yours is stitched. These measure out at 2 1/16.
The Atchison measures about 1 3/4. I am measuring across the top of the pouch. So neither of these sheaths fit mine. :o

Not a problem, the sheaths from that era fit right in to the discussion. Here's three sheaths, the left is from my third version, variation 7 that according to the original receipt was ordered in January and received in February 1969. The center is the sheath that came with the knife in my original post and the right one is from a new in the box 2 dot. The left one is 1/8' narrower than the others and has the 110 stamped above the belt loop and has no rivets. The other two have minor differences also, the placement of the rivets and the tooling marks on the flap. Since Joe's data sheet says the following (see below) I suppose any of these could be correct, but the one that came with it is just too pristene in my opinion to have come with it originally unless it was just put away when new and never used.

" B. Atcheson Leather—late 1967 to early 1969. Leather, BUCK on flap, Model #, tooling lines and dimple rivet on belt loop.
C. Buck leather shop—started early 1969.
1) Leather, BUCK on snap & flap, tooling lines on belt loop. Used maybe 2 years?
2) Leather, BUCK on snap and flap, plain belt loop, model # on back."

Great info and a beautiful knife.

Wish I'd have been looking a little sooner that afternoon.

:)

I regret not pulling the trigger right away on the 112. I waited until I heard back that he would ship both for the same shipping cost and then it was gone before I got back to it. You snooze, you lose.
