Perhaps this has been done in the past...sorry if that's so...otherwise, it could be interesting:

What's the oldest and the youngest Born-on date of the Kershaws you own?

For example, my oldest is a Leek with polished G10 handles and S30V blade; it's a model 1660PGT, born on Dec 05 (I have a Blackout that may be older, but I've misplaced it and can't check).

I do have a few older models produced before Kershaw started using the born-on dates.

My youngest is a basic combo-bladed Scallion, model 1620ST born this month, Feb 08 (well, this one's sorta mine...it's the one I talked my wife into carrying in her purse).

It's my understanding that Kershaw started including the date on their knives sometime in 2000 for all models made in Oregon...anyone have more accurate/specific info?

Thanks, guys:)

Ray

Edit: I guess this wasn't that interesting...:o

The oldest I have is a Blackout I bought 12/10/02 (Wal Mart receipt) no date on blade.
The newest is my JYD II titanium with Dec 07 on the blade.

Well, I just traded a Dec. '07 JYD I, so my oldest is a May '04 baby Boa, & newest is a Dec. '04 Leek (Whose scales match the baby Boa). My other Kershaw is between those, a July '04 all black Scallion.

I am getting 3 more kershaws this coming week, though.

My oldest is a 1600 Jeep issue with Sep 04 on the blade.

My newest is a ZT 301 with Nov 07 #1233 on the blade.

LOL@Ray...in fact you are right! I have another Chive1600CKT that has a Oct04 date. Bought it when I thought I lost the other one...love these knives for EDC.

Jun07 on my bump, no date on my honker. Though if I remember correctly, the poster of the leek steels thread has a jan08, which I'm pretty sure is the newest knife here.

Since we're walking down Kershaw Memory Lane today reholli, I thought I would touch on this question you had.

We did indeed start with the BOD's in 2000. The Blackout was the original model to set this dating off. It took 6-10 months to indoctrinate the other patterns, but 2000 was the year it all started.

If you close your knife halfway and then look at the blades pivot area you will find your Blackout's BOD. (little trick from your Uncle Tom ;))

My oldest is a blackout-Sept 05
My newest is a leek 1660G10- Jan 08
I also have 2 DAM leeks on their way...:D

Thanks for the recent additions to this thread, all...(Thomas, SPX, glsj1011, etc.).

I like all things Kershaw, and like learning! :)

I have a Leek and Boa without dates. Oldest dated is Ti Bump, June 04. Newest is Shallot, Oct 07.

New oldest: Chive, black/red smoke handle, black blade, 1600BRCKT from Aug 04.

Newest is still a Feb 08 1620ST Scallion.

Ray :)

Only have three at the moment. If I remember correctly the oldest is my ZT0200 @ June-2007, while the oldest is my ZT0500 and Kershaw Tyrade, both January-2008. I'm sure the second Tyrade I have coming is also going to be Jan-2008.

Btw, I note that both my ZT's are numbered, but the Tyrade is not. Is there a reason for that? It looks like the Tyrade would be numbered since it is a limited production. Any idea what the total Tyrade output will be?

Just got my first Kershaw.....a Blackout 1550st. Browsing the forums looking for info and found this thread. BOD of Feb 05.

The Blackout 1550ST was my first Kershaw too...I have many more now! Unfortunately, I've misplaced it...it would probably be my oldest with a date on it. You'll enjoy it, I'm sure, and probably acquire others.

Welcome to bladeforums and the Kershaw forum. :)

As for the Boa, look on the side of the blade that has the model number, S30V, KAI patented, and made in the USA stamp. Open the blade, and as you close it look down near the pivot. A date should appear there, when the blade is about 50 to 55 degrees to the handle.
