What is the oldest using knife in your collection. Mine is a Victorinox Fisherman SAK I bought in 1981 - nearly as good as new and gets a lot of work esp. those little scissors. I have replaced the spring in the scissors and the toothpick.

I have a little Hammer Brand slip join that was made around 1920-1930 that sometimes opens mail. :)

The oldest knife that I use that was purchased new is a Buck 112 Special bowie that was a birthday present in 1975.

I often use an older knife though; an old Finland pukko style knife with stacked Birch washer handle that my Dad bought way back in the 40s. Good old forged carbon steel, takes and holds a razor edge and is pretty easy to sharpen too.

BM Ares. I was 5 when you bought your Vic, and I sell/trade/give away knives often :D

I EDC a Schrade stockman that I bought in 1976, and I sometimes use a German fixed blade that my father gave me when I was in junior highschool, 1966 if I remember correctly.

A Frost 2 blade pen knife my older borther gave me when I graduated the 8th grade in 1981, real white tale deer antler scales.

Recently someone gave me a nice Queen 2 blade jack with real bone handles made in 1946-48...the small blade has a small notch in the blade so I doubt it has any collector value, so I may carry it, I kinda like it.

Well, khukuris aside, I have a sailor's clasp knife made in London by Wolfe in the 1820's. It's pretty much intended as a user, and I have actually used it to cut rope, which it does quite well. No point of course. Made without one so the lads wouldn't stab during long, boring voyages. Then there's the flint knife . . . .

I still use a Buck 110 that I purchased around 1985. Oldest occasional user is a SAK that I got for high school graduation in 1968.

I still have a Victorinox Camper (with the lil saw) I got when I was in 1st grade (9-10 years ago). Sadly, didn't see much use...I still have it sitting on my shelf though.

I had a run-in at school with it in 2nd grade...yeah, I was a bit of a klutzy boy and forgot it in my pocket. Then, I was a goodie-goodie too, and went to the principal when I found out that I had it in there. It was the year they put zero-tolerance into play I believe...I got out of school with just a 'don't do it again'. Sadly, my parents kept the knife, "for a year" they said. I just found it a few months ago, and it's safely on my shelf, nice and oiled.

my oldest is a gerber FS11 drop point, circa 1979 or '80, a great design in its time, i always liked them better than the buck 110, they were lots slimmer. put one of the bolt on thumb studs on it (one armed bandit???) and it was almost tactical.

in these pre internet days, i think i paid around $50, a lotta cash in the day. plus $20 or so for the 'bandit, lotsa $$ in those days for sure.

also still have my gerber mark 11 i bought in '70, but has been a long while since i edc'd it. another high $ knife in the day ($50 IIRC)

a schrade walden stockman, which makes it late 60's, early 70's...

I've no idea of the actual age of the knife but it was my grandfather's which he gave to me when I was a kid. It is one of those leather stacked handle Sheffield Hunting knives (7" blade). This is still one of my favorite knives that I own, probably the sentimental value more than anything.

I've owned it for more than 20 years, he stopped hunting when he was in his twenties or thirties, seeing that he was in his late eighties when he died a few years ago I'd say it is a safe guess that the knife is at least 50 years old.

A Western Model L48ABG hunting knife made in the mid to late 50s. :D Before I got that knife, I used a BUCK 105 that my dad bought back in 1967 or 1968. Both are shaving sharp and hold there edges well.:D

I've been carrying SAKs since I was quite young, so I should have some reasonably old ones. The problem is that I've tended to upgrade and give away my old ones to friends. As a result, the oldest knife in my collection is a Victorinox SwissChamp from whatever year they first became available. I haven't found anything I could upgrade to from that. :-)

I do still carry it every day. (Horizontally on my belt in an Eagle Industries pouch.) Not light or small, but it is the closest thing I've found to a universal tool.

And the oldest of my giveaways that I can still locate, a Victorinox Explorer, is going strong and being carried daily.

I have an old c1960s case barlow (not totally sure on the age) which was my grandfathers (almost seems like a cliché, but true) which gets very minimum use. "My" oldest user is a Wenger SAK which has seen about ten years of use. My Grandfather's Case is without a doubt my most sentimentally valuable knife I own (if, for some evil reason, I could keep only one of the many knives I own, that would be it without a second thought).

I collect antique pocketknives, and will sometimes do some light cutting jobs with one of them, many date pre-1900.

My oldest knife that I actually use on a regular basis is my Victorinox Super-Tinker.

Happy hunting,
Allen.
