I hate to do this but other people should know what kind of guy oldewelder is. We had a trade deal worked out and he backed out. I had agreed to PayPal him some cash along with my knife that I was trading for his knife. The money was to make the trade fair for both of us. The deal we worked out was fair for both of us but after I had sent him the PayPal and boxed up the knife, he decided to cancle the trade. It was only because I happened to check my e-mail at the last second that I noticed his message that showed me he was backing out of the deal.

It was a waste of my time and money since PayPal charged me a fee to accept his return payment. He didn't even have the decency to make it a refund so I wouldn't be charged. He showed me that he is not to be trusted and I will never have anything to do with him again. It is really sad that some people can't stand by their word. If it were me, I would have gone ahead with the trade anyway, even if I had had second thoughts. My word means more to me that his does to him. I have gone through with things at a cost to me just because I said I was going to do what I said.

Good luck if you decide to trade with "oldewelder". At least he did return my money so he is not a theif. He just can't be relied on to keep his word. I have no use for people like this.

Oldewelder has lied many times. I can't see that I would trust a person like this.

"I GAVE you your money back."
I gave you $20 and you gave $19 back. That is sort of like being a thief and a liar in my book.

"I also told you I didn't want to trade, but you PERSISTED!"
I didn't realize that I was somehow forcing you into the trade. We had a deal and you back out at the very last second for no aparent reason. I think you were hoping that I had mailed my knife already. Lucky for me I checked the e-mail late at night or I would have sent the knife as we had agreed on.

"Well, I don't know how they do things where you come from, but around here I have the right to do what I want in a trade."
Well, where I come from, we don't lie and back out of deals. It must seem strange to you but some peole do have some self respect.

"And I am a MAN of my word, ask any of these other guys I traded with."
I have no doubt that you had some good dealing in the past but that doesn't mean you didn't do exactly what I said you did because you did.

"You hadn't sent the knife yet, so I don't know what the problem is. Because you packaged it? You poor thing! Packaging that knife must have kept you up all night long! Do you want me to send the 88cents Paypal charged? Because if you do, I will make sure I get you that cup of coffee."
Such a class act. I guess you don't get it, do you? You wasted my time with your e-mails and agreeing to trade and then backing out. You further wasted my money in several ways. It is not a lot of money but your attitude is just plain sad. You should be apologizing to me but instead you have attacked me.

"I sold you a knife before, that was LNIB for $ 10.75! And it cost me $22.00!"
Another lie. You sold me a knife for $15 shipped. I don't care what it cost you and don't pretend like you were doing me a favor. I was the only one interested in your knife and you needed money for beer probably.

How does a worm type on a keyboard anyway? Do you use your worm head or your worm tail? Just curious. ;)

imho a lot of folks have been getting hot under the collar about other folks backing outta trades, situations were no one has lost any $$.

before a trade is complete both people have to be happy with it, both people, ya can back outta buying anytime and it wont bother me (will bother some folks as it slows down the sale/trade of the item) or, ya can back outta selling/swapping said item. not a good idea to do too many times as ya lose trust, but every now and again it isnt a big deal (to me anyway), heck ya really should give a day/2 to look at the item and make sure its as advertised, or whatever, and if one of the parties is not happy, ya send the items back, so if ya back outta a trade/sale before anyone has sent anything, no harm in that imho. just dont make a habit of it, as i said before. same thing with posting an item for sale at the wrong price, if ya meant $300 and it comes out $30, ya cant blame someone for not accepting the loss, thats just not realistic either imho. both parties have to be happy for the deal to be complete.

just hate to see folks get so angry when no one has lost anything, except maybe time.

have really seen a lot of this in GBU lately and imho GBU is more for folks who have been ripped off, not p----- off. ya should really try to come to an agreement via email/etc before posting in GBU, its a "last resort" kinda place to use when all other means have been exhausted and ya have been ripped off.

prior to the last 6 months IIRC this rarely came up, all the time now though.

good luck to both of you guys,

Your first post and oldwelders reply accomplished what needed to be done here. You gave a warning to the members about what kind of trader he is and his reply confirmed your statement. Nothing else positive will come out of this in my opinion. Urinating matches are sometimes fun to read but the longer you keep at it the wetter you’re going to get.

I removed a Boker barlow from my trade listing because my 8 year old sister said she wanted it. I'm waiting for the backlash :D.

Guys, it was either that or get my ass handed to me by her, she's tough!

I didn't see any insults in the first post. Post #2 featured "Jackass" and "Anal Jackass" not very creative and surely no substitute for an apology which is what that one should have included.

Well said.
