Olf Fashioned Custom Forged Knife: Larry Fuegen Ancient Ivory Fighter

How telling of this pieces magnitude is the accelerated pace in comments. It`s rich, unusual and visually detailed to keep you occupied for a lonnnng time.

It`s a bold photo by Mitch, too. He`s not afraid to chance pointing up and to the right. A non-common, and in this shot, a VERY striking pose.

Good post, thanks.

One of my favorite Fuegen's, also. The carved ivory is fantastic. The steel, so mystical. What a package you have there!

Wow!

That is a great knife. Larry Fuegen is truly a Master.

Congratulations.

Absolutely beautiful. Probably one of your nicer in the collection. Great work and I am envious! =)

Alot of great details in this whole setup. I really like this blade and sheath. Simple but very nice carvings both steel and the handle.

Ken,

Outstanding damascus pattern.

Great knife and sheath.

Thanks for sharing, Fuegen knives are such a rare treat around here.

VERY nice. Mr. Fuegen remains one of the absolute TOP US knifemakers in my book.

Kind regards,

incredible knife!!!!this touch my taste! but man.....we need MORE FOTOS

I am happy that some folks have enjoyed seeing it. I really wish folks could see it up close, because there is a quality to the blade that I think is nearly impossible to capture in a two dimensional image, although I think Mitchell did as much as humanly possible. I think it probaby frustrated him tryng to capture it. It is just very rare in that respect. Joe's observation is quite astute - it does have a Wootz-like characteristic. But there is a lot of shimmer which is hard to capture.

More photos . . . would be great to see different angles and details, although I think that more photos would not capture the nature of the blade any better. And like most mere mortals, for me more photo$ mean$ le$$ knive$. :( Sorry.

One final observation . . .

If you like this knife, then realize that if the proposed total ivory ban is instituted, you can say goodbye to any more knives like this. And I do not believe that it will do a damn thing to save a single elephant as I do not think there are a whole lot of elephant tusks that look like this handle.
