Olive Oil?

I don't know about olives oil on the skin but the lady Doctor on Fox news says that sunflower oil is by far the best thing for your skin. It works, it doesn't smell or feel sticky or messy. I don't know how it burns.

I remember my Mom cooking lard when we butchered hogs. They also made soap from it.

If you are going to be in cold weather, you may want to keep it in a container that does not have a tiny cap -so that when it turns solid you can still scoop it out.

Cotton ball wick and olive oil fuel.

Damn, I half expected to be laughed off the forum. lol.

I guess that makes olive oil indeed a good idea.

I've used it for years on my carbon kitchen knives. They don't stay unused long enough for the oil to go rancid. The blades developed a slight patina over the years from it.

I keep 2oz nalgene's of olive oil in my kit's, fry a lot of trout and bring pesto mix for pasta.

I will grease my oarlocks when flyfishing, hate that squeak.
When I used to do a lot of multiday backpacking I made sure I ate 2 or 3 oz a day with my revved metabolism, some trips I had a hard time eating/shoveling the 5,500 calories a day or I would lose weight.
Mountain men and pioneers way back used to call it sweet oil and it was used for everything you can think of. My grandma had olive oil in a clear glass table lamp and she would burn it with tons of popourii in the oil. She might have thinned it, I can't recall.

Good to flush bugs out of the ear. I'll treat my wood handles with it just cause olive oil goes good on EVERYTHING.

I always carry some olive oil in a small nalgene. Together with spices, garlic and chili itll do wonders for a meal.

Ive been told that the way to tell true high quality olive oil is to expose it to low temps, for example in the fridge. If it turns cloudy then its the real deal.

Olive oil would also come in handy as lube if you decide to do a Grylls survival enema :D

for brevity: THE GRYENEMA

It can be sticky and messy too :D That said, it is one of my favorite things. I take one table soon per day if I am unable to consume it in food. As per the medical advice of Dr. Oz as recommends for over all bowel health (relayed to my by my television watching girlfriend).

some ladies that live in italy that were centurians all drank a cup of olive oil a day. you take it all at once or over a period. they didnt look over a 100 yrs old. they looked like they were in their 70's. able to get around fairly well and sharp as tacks. . olive oil along with pommegrant and black beans are wonderfull for the body.

Regular olive oil or EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil)? I believe the former is best for homebrew oil-based salad dressings as the latter starts to solidify below 40 F - as in a fridge! Where is Rachael Ray when we need her?

Stainz

PS I used walnut oil, from a healthfood store, with bee's wax and paraffin, as a renewable edible finish on my wooden utensils and bowls due to it's edible properties and non-fouling nature. I don't know how it burns.
