Hi Folks, I'm flying back home early tomorrow morning. Can't wait to get back to my home. Yesterday we did a quick little trip to Oman, about 3 h drive from Dubai, to look at some corals for possible future research surveys. Anyhow, as in the case of Fujairah's, many of the shots were taken from the vehicle. A few good shots of the reef also.

The corals had experienced a red tide earlier like Fujairah, but not as intense. The die off's that follow produce lots of bacteria which stimulated tunicate and jellyfish. Anyhow, the jellyfish were stinging us like crazy so we only ended up swimming about 15 min.

Start off with the Desert proper. Now these are dunes!

The welts on my friends body from the Jelly fish - I was stung all to heck to, but I didn't react the way he did. He took an anti-histamine and the swelling went down.

Those old coral cliffs are amazing! Gulf side? Ocean?

You forgot to take a pic of a "labor camp", something for Mr Stalin to learn. I drove the same road about a month and a half ago and must admit that this side of the UAE is nicer than the other.

Wow those are nice pics, and of an very different environment than most of ours here. I really liked the pics of the mountains and then the beach. The water is so blue over there, very pretty.

Those Jelly fish stings look like they hurt.

I enjoy the ocean so much more from a boat with a fishing pole in my hand!
 
K, you are one lucky guy, that is some amazing area, when ever I get to travel I know where Im going!:D
