I have an update on this.
After countless times opening and closing the 31 in question, and discovering I had purchased a Magnacut version, the only knife I currently own in Magnacut which made it more "valuable" to me in my mind, it has now broken in nicely and works like a charm.
Surprisingly, I sent a 21 black micarta in to be glass-blasted intending to keep it forever, and when it came back, it now opens like a new, unbroken in knife.
I wonder if new washers were put in after the glass blasting to get it to be in like-new condition again. Regardless, it looks fantastic, and is (to me) the best examle of what a 21 can be. I need to thin down the herd and am going to be posting it for sale soon but I did not post this for that reason, just to share my experience.
Also, I am a HUGE fan of the glass blast process. My 25 black micarta was glass blasted and looks incredible. I'm sending in a CF Knife-Art Inkosi Insingo to have the one scale also glass blasted along with an OP Zaan, both of which I'm keeping.
Took 9 weeks for them to come back, BTW.
