I know I know, how many threads can you have about getting cut? Well, if you have graphic pictures, I'm guessing a lot! :D

But after reading another thread on getting cut, I have to ask this question:

How many of y'all have been cut just playing with your knives? By which I mean, opening/closing repeatedly, admiring your knife, fondling, etc?

Let's all be honest here, it's all in fun :D

Happened about 10 minutes ago, playing with a KS packrat, trying to get used to cycling it.....thumb wound up with a 1/4" slice that I never felt, blood all down my pants (wifes kinda pissed, purchased them yesterday)

Oh and credit to Kershaw's sharpening service, beautiful edge;)

......

I did this on the fourth about 10:30pm.....I set a record for ER visit, less then 30 minutes later I was walking out.

I'm going to be a honest here, every time I have ever cut myself I was "fondling" my knives. In fact I was admiring the walk n talk of my great-grandfather's 100+ year old knife and that carbon razor cut me right on the top of my index finger. Ever been cut there? It's quite the nuisance of a cut. Perhaps it was a message from my greatgrandfather to stop playing with my knives like a damned fool and start doing something! :D

the only time i cut myself is when im playing with my knives, mostly late at night. i guess it you do it enough your more than lickely going to mess up and get cut. but since i keep my knives very sharp if it bleeds at all its only for a few mins

Too many times. Usually, no almost always, not paying attention.

The "nice" thing about knifes, say as opposed to a chainsaw or a circular saw, is the wound
is more of a nuisance than life threatening.

I sometimes do that.

About a week ago, I was just finishing polishing a M390 blade, and testing the edge cutting some credit card paper, when my dog, a german sheppard entered the kitchen chasing my girlfriend's dog, a poodle, and hit me in the legs... With the impact, the blade finished cutting the paper and continued cutting my index finger...
Nice and clean cut. Very nice blade indeed... :)

Almost the same story as ALMTIBA. I just finished polishing a ZDP-189 blade. I stepped over my dog to get something from the dresser. He decided to get up at that moment and bumped my leg. In the act of trying to balance myself, the tip of the knife ran across the tip of my middle finger. A nice clean cut that bled like crazy for a while. I learned a lesson - don't walk around with the blade open if you don't need to.

Getting cut while just admiring a knife is a given. In fact, I don't consider a knife broken in or mine until it tastes my own blood.
