On 500$ folder

JB Blount, JB Stout, Gareth Bull, Tim Britton his new flipper. Buy before he sells out. If his scales are you style. Lastly as awesome guy in Jeremy Robertson and his El Patron.

Thanks again everybody i went through the majority of all the makers and knives suggested narrowed it down. I've already gotten in touch with Alan and waiting on a few responses from others so we'll see what happens. When I get closer to making a decision I'll probly start different threads to get views on certain models. I'm pretty sure at this point I'll be getting a flipper. I'll go ahead n list some now that I'm still pretty interested in. The model I messaged Alan about is the cf flipper 008. I'm really excited about the shamwari I can't put my finger on it really but I keep going back over n over taking a look at this knife just seems unique with the way it opens really simple but very high f&f super clean well thought out. Ray laconicos jasmine flipper plus a few others I'm still looking into.

Thanks again all

For a flipper, don't overlook Mikkel Willumsen. I have Mikkel's Tuco and it's flipper badness.
Also, when you get a Strider folder in your hand, you will see that there's no controversy.
Lastly, a Laconico folder is gtg.

Don't have any experience with custom builders, so I can't make any recommendations there. However, I own a bunch of folding knives and would have to say that my favorite is my Strider. It is true that people tend to either love or hate Striders. I like them because they are built like tanks, and handle pretty well. Also, considering how solid they are, they are relatively light (at least compared to a similar ZT300 I own. However, some people despise Strider for a couple of reasons. First the fit and finish on a Strider is sometimes not up to snuff (at least for a knife that costs $500). Also, some people don't like the owner. But if you want a solid, tank like knife that you can probably resell for nearly what you paid for it, take a look at Strider.

Have also handled a Sebenza and it is a great knife - but very different than a Strider. Fit and finish much better but less utilitarian/tool like.

ZT also makes a nice knife (although the one I own is kind of heavy for EDC).

Finally, if you want to save some money you might take a look at some of the Spyderco models, which I think offer a great value.

By no means is that the only option but those just came to mind also I would seriously look at ray laconicos knives he makes some beautiful custom knives in your price rang try looking up "ray laconico blast flipper" or "jasmin flipper" if I had $500 I'd buy one in a heart beat.

THIS so bad. Very rarely will you see one come up for sale, but when you see one it will blow your mind. This is grail material stuff.

Lots of great makers/knives have been suggested so far. I'd recommend going with the Sebenza though; chances are you'll want to try one eventually, anyway! :D I really dig the 21 Insingo model...

Good luck, OP!

I will more than likely at some point own a Sebenza and probly a strider and all 3 of the knives I listed above
@ houndoggy I rly just don't put the sebbie or strider in the same category strider is tactical styled where the sebbie is simple and more artful. Thing I like about strider is I can resale it easily it's warranty and the nice choil on the blade that gives you a nice deep grip

Can someone also leave me rays contact info so I can get in touch with him?

Have you looked at Phantom Steelworks? They are relatively new and are making some killer knives! I just ordered a PF-1 flipper with a chisel grind tanto blade. Chris Martin is one super knife maker to deal with. He's sending updated photos daily of my knife in progress. Just a little bit more than $500.00 but IMO well worth it.

You may want to look at a Grimsmo Norseman 'Flipper'. It seems to meet your criteria and is a butter smooth 'flipper' w/ an awesome blade design and is priced at $450!
