? on bead blasting

What grit do I need to sand to before I get a blade bead blasted? My knife is a CCW and I don't want a shiney finish.

When I blast a blade I use crushed glass. I can take a blade from a 320 grit belt on the Burr King directly to the cabinet.

It's a smooth, frosted, servicable finish.

I have had good results blasting after using a worn 120grit belt,but usually go to 220-320,then blast.I use a mixture of aluminum oxide&glass beads=70%#150AO,30%bt-8 gb,mix it in a pail and pour it in your blast cabinet.you can tailor the mix to your needs.A 25%GB 75%AO,will do a blade Battleship Gray,hope this helps you.

With bead blasting, you use ceramic beads and blast the metal. It makes a nice no-shine type finish.
