11/07/2022: Wordle 506 4/6

⬜⬜🟨🟨⬜
⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜
⬜🟨⬜🟨🟩
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

17 choices after the 2nd guess and only 1 after
the 3rd. The 3rd guess saved Par for me again. :)

The current NYT average for this puzzle is 4.0.

11/06/2022: Wordle 505 3/6 STALE

8 choices, 5 using the same letter pattern per
WordleBut but STALE was the 1st word that I
thought of. Luckily it was the right one. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

STAKE, STAVE, STATE & STAGE were the others.

The final NYT average for this puzzle was only 3.2.

only 1 choice after the 3rd.

The current NYT average for this puzzle is 3.9.

only 1 choice after the 3rd.

Nothing much to see here, excpet to note how important my
3rd guess is to saving Par and maintaining my 3.6 average score.

FYI: I just received this Tweet regarding the assignment of an editor for Wordle:

Here's the text of the article referenced in the Tweet:

What does this mean for the game?

It just means that there were be a specific person responsible for vetting (or curating) the Wordle Word List, which they have been doing (by committee?) since they acquired the game in January.

I still have the original word list and I keep track of changes in the word list (after the fact).

FWIW, the words in the last 2 games were changed. The words removed were VOMIT and OMBRE. Don't see the problem w/VOMIT (which may still show up in the list later) but OMBRE was a real head scratcher and would have caused people a lot of problems.

What I gather from the article is that the editor will NOT make any major changes in the words used in the Word List itself, but will make "refinements" as she thinks necessary to make the game "better" in order to keep people interested in playing the game, which obviously is in the best interests of the NYT.

The only thing important to note in the article in terms of playing the game is that they will not be allowing word plurals to be to used as an answer but plurals can be used as a guess to solve a puzzle.

Oh isn't that interesting... I assumed that simple plurals were unlikely based on past experience, but nice to know they are actually not possibles.
