Careful thinking and inference about vowel order won the day today, ironically in more than one way.

Yesterday I guessed OVERT third, then RETRO... then finally METRO. Made it through all the options... If METRO and RETRO had occurred to me first, I should have gone with one of them and shaved a guess off either way, but they didn't until quite some time later.
