On the back burner...because knives! (Play Money )

Fellow knife knuts. I know I'm not the only one who's been putting knives ahead of other purchases on my personal WANT list. What non-knife purchases have you, or, are you putting off because a knife or two just keeps jumping to the top of your list.

I've been putting off these other NON-CRITICAL purchases:
An ultrabook (it's a light and skinny laptop for when I must appear to be a delicate and refined professional)
A custom AR rifle (because I'm a G.D. Patriot, that's why. You can't defend yourself or your community with sensitivity training)
Bolt-ons and a tune for my ride (a few extra horses never hurt anybody)
Clothes (because I'm still wearing cloths from the last century. My style has outlasted canned food)
Dumbells (Who am I kidding? I just need to get an ultrabook)

Let's try to keep this thread fun and friendly.

EDIT:::: I added "(Play Money)" in the title to avoid discussion about responsible budgeting. This thread is not about financial irresponsibility.

Been wanting a Tudor Black Bay since it came out. I could've bought 2 or 3 by now if I avoided the sharp pointy things.
No regrets. I'll get one in a year or two...... After I get the last 3 customs that I'm waiting for the calls on.

Knives are on the back burner because I decided to reproduce. I am doing the stay at home dad thing right now and it has slashed my knife budget into the negative. Luckily I am swimming in knives. I am also trying get a few bee hives set up and ready for spring and thinking about liquidating a few knives to make it happen. On top of that the holidays are always good at curbing the knife spending. I have been hoarding for a while now so taking a break might even be what I need. :) one of these days I will get back to my hoarding ways.

I love knives too, but what you've described OP sounds a bit like addiction ;)

Knives come after all other bases are covered and I have the extra scratch to spend.

A couple of posts have me worried that some folks are confusing the topic of prioritizing your knife hobby in your "WANT" list, NOT putting knives above things in your "NEED" list. I'm talking discretionary spending only. Some people call it "play money".

Like "I can't afford wine because I buy too much beer" NOT "I can't afford food because I buy too much beer". I may have over-estimated my ability to create a fun topic that was debate proof.

I knew what you meant.

I don't drink wine or beer...so that money goes to knives.
I do, however, enjoy bourbon...and if my stock starts running low, I'll curb my knife purchasing.
(Actually, truth be told, two changes - one recent, one soon to happen - have impacted my finances. It's a temporary thing; but common sense kicked in as it should, and knives are not in the budget for a while. Not a big deal...maybe by the time I'm ready to spend again, there will be something I actually WANT again)

Knives, home theater and PC gaming compete for my attention and money. Knives have been winning lately but I have been getting the 4K upgrade itch.

I need to replace all my climbing rope before next climbing season, also have my eye on a couple new harnesses and other accessories.

This one is knife related but I've been getting into kydex recently but just doing rivets with a pair of ball bearings in my vise, I've had my eye on a rivet setting press thing (can't remember what it's called) and been wanting to build a newer [better] kydex press but I'm doing OK with my current setup so having a hard time justifying that stuff.

I also need a new laptop but I'm really hoping my boss buys me one for Xmas (I use it for making time lapses for work and my old laptop is so slow its literally costing my boss hours of my labor* to render them so much that at this point its cheaper to buy me the new computer than it is to keep paying me to use mine).

*also the reason I haven't bought a new one myself lol, make that money.

Guns: There's almost no public land in Texas and you're not allowed to shoot on the bit that does exist. You can cut stuff just about anywhere though.

Wheels: I've got a pretty tricked out v8 pathfinder that could always be more tricked out, but since I drive a company vehicle (day job) 90% of the time it's been back burnered.

That's about it though. Whether or not those things have fallen out of my life because of other factors and just happen to have been replaced by knives or they've fallen away because they've been replaced by knives is debatable.

Ammo reserves for the Walther PPQ, Glock 43, S&W 686+ and Colt LE6920. I like to have a few thousand rounds in reserve, but ammo gets used and is gone, the ZT 0562cf I just ordered should stay for a long time.

Let's see...this year I've bought a ZT0220, PM2, a custom chute knife, a Kershaw Leek as a gift for someone, a Benchmade Bugout and a SAK huntsman. So I decided no more knives for the rest of the year!

The things I could have bought instead...concert tickets, a laptop and new winter jacket and boots. My old ones are getting tired, but I can push another winter out of them!

bearfacedkiller bearfacedkiller : Swimming in knives!!! OUCH!!!!:)

EDIT: I knew I was forgetting one! BK21 as well.

Feed the addiction but you still need balance. Basics covered first unless it is a Sprint Run / Dealer Exclusive / Custom gotta have it no matter what happens...... :)
