On the back burner...because knives! (Play Money )

Knives, home theater and PC gaming compete for my attention and money. Knives have been winning lately but I have been getting the 4K upgrade itch.

If you're going to go 4K now's the time. I've got a pair of 4K displays on the computer and bestbuy has some decent upcoming deals on 4k TV's so I might go there too.

Recently Knives have been on the back burner for me as I transition more to Guns and Reloading. I inherited some reloading equipment which kick started my Gun hobby. Now all of my hobby money goes to reloading components and the next firearm. Currently saving for a scope. Could have doubled my knife collection with the money spent on guns the last 18 months, but my knife collection is where I want it right now.

Also hunting season is started and I am a novice there too. Need to get some gear for that during Black Friday.

Back burner? Please explain..........

Between knives, guns, guitars, fly fishing gear, guitars, and Rolex watches I hardly see a need to fore go any one addiction for another. (Tounge in cheek). Actually I've slowed way down and am thinning the "herds". Going for quality over quantity.

Motorcycle, hunting, shooting. i try to spreads it out amongst all of them... But it usually goes to one of the kids wanting to hang with their friends. Or the wife
nee-wanting something!

Recently, sharpening has taken priority over the knives themselves for me. This has been a really big knife year for me. As for hobbies on the backburner... photography has been back there for a few years now. I love it, but the next level of gear is just so expensive for the amount I’m prone to using it. However, horses and all they entail always take precedence over all other hobbies and desires. Tack, equipment, upkeep, entry fees and everything else adds up fast in the horse world.

i have way too many hobbies and they all attack my wallet at the same time.
sports betting, sporting events, guitar, wine, coffee, watches, sneakers, goodyear welt, streetwear, male fashion, EDM, fine dining, alcoholism

The great thing about air rifles is you can shoot 500 rounds for about $9!!
I am obsessed with the amazing accuracy with them!! We had a challenge on the GTA......5 groups of 5 that can fit under a dime at 50 yards! I was the first one to do it! Did it with a very well tuned TX!
Lot of fun!
TX & Pro Sport in one pic and an HW 95 on the stand. All 3 are insane accurate!!

My multi stroke pneumatic airgun hobby and knife hobby are often interfering with each other.

Great thread!
I way overspent on blades this year—way WAY overspent.
It forced me to keep pushing back a valve job on my Honda to the point I’m starting the job myself this weekend (I have the knowhow—I hope :)—I just didn’t want to screw with it myself).

With regards to pure play money, the trigger kit for my CZ P-01 was also sacraficed in the name of Spyderco’s annual discontuniation sale. :(:(:(

Everything is being put on the back burner for a Strider SMF. I ordered a cheap one to see if it was comfortable or not and fell in love with the knife. Now I use it for a letter opener and am looking for a real one as we speak. I am quite sure I would not be hunting for one it if I did not have the cheap one to try out.

Definitely ammo. I have all the guns i want and hey need to be fed. Im usually well stocked in ammo, but right now my shotguns are a little hungry and will have to live off rations until the new year.

Im going to try a new years resolution: 1 new knife per month max!

It will be difficult, but i think i can do it... o_O

For all my vices... and goodness knows I've got them... This is not one. I'm a user and not a collector. I have a modest collection of knives that cover most of the major categories. I have zero hesitation around using any of them whenever and however I want. I don't feel the need to buy more at this point. That said, I do love learning and hanging around this place. I spend more time sharpening than I do thinking about my next purchase.

Love the HW 95! I would love to try something that nice. My CZ pellet rifle and pistol are not even in the same league as your gear.

Not the right time to pick up a new knife(or air gun). Timing is very bad. Just found out the wife's Subaru Forester needs a new transmission. That's $4200 right there. Heating and AC just quit in the home and my BMW is sitting with dust on it. I have not gone for a ride in over a year. BMW is very proud of its repair parts so the bike has to sit until the coffers of Sabre Cat National Bank are in better shape, my house is warm, and the auto is fixed.

I am willing to let the bike sit if that special knife comes along at the at the right price, though.

If I wasn't spending so much money on knives, I'd be saving it. And, in a way, I still am. Aside from the stupid Kershaw deals that I can't seem to avoid, most of the knives I buy keep their value.

Great posts guys. Especially the guys trying to liven up the place. We're still dryer than a bag of cement mix in here. Someone add some juice to this thread, please. I'm just not that funny.

Katanas - is easier to find a new heart than fix an old one. But the new ones aren't built like they used to be. The older ones used to pump blood and warm other hearts. They're still out there, on the, ahem... "secondary market". They might be a little cold at first but with a little TLC, they'll be warmer than ever.

Sabre cat. There are guys who can make a nerf gun that can put a foam pellet through dry wall. Get creative man.

For ol' blue his .20's are 15$ per 500 but that's still pretty cheap.

When I was a kid I used to bite lead pellets, you know, cause they are kinda soft. I guess that explains a lot.

I might have passed a few BBs back then too...My body just sort of knew to take them through the path of least resistance. Taping the target in the urinal was a huge waste of time.

When I want another knife (fortunately doesnt happen too, too often) I curtail my vodka intake to save the cash.

Example: If I drink 300.00 monthly but want a CM custom that costs 500.00 I cut my drinkin in half and will have the play money in three months.

So I guess alcoholism takes a back burner to knives. Probably a good thing.

Most of my hobby money goes into guitar stuff and art supplies and books.

Guns are my biggest priority right now. I've been doing USPSA, IDPA, and local leagues weekly.

Knives have been on the back burner lately. Since autos became legal in IL I've just been carrying a Protech TR3 for a while now. Don't really want any other knives, rather have guns.
