I am working on this Wakizashi at the moment and I am really excited about it and had to share it with you all. 18 I/2 " Shinogi- Zukuri. Hand forged W2.
It has some history, this is the 4th attempt and I finally have been successfull. Well so far so good. The first attempt was a 600 layer random pattern of 1075 and 15N20 that I water quenched. Well for those of us who are a bit crazy and do water quenching we have all had that pinging sensation, well this one destroyed itself in spectacular fashion. The second attempt had a slight twist and bend that I tried to rectify but I just could not get it right! AARRRGH
The third attempt was good but I missed out with the hamon not getting up to the hamachi. I re heat treated it got the hamon ok but the tip bent down ( i'm using Houghtons K quench ) so tried to recurve it but ended up putting a bend in the *#*###*** thing. Some nice activity going on, ( not that you can see this in the photos to well ) All I have to do now is the fittings saya etc. Being a glutton for punishment have a Daisho set on the go now.
Thanks for looking any comments appreciated.
Cheers Keith
