On the river today (i took pics!) ....

Looks like you had a beautiful winter day, thanks for the pics.

I have a fly setup but just never took to it. About all I managed to do with it was to tie some really interesting wind knots in the line.

told my friends i just wasn't feeling quite right. the broken ski probably had something to do with it. ;)

I had the same experience when my ski broke just behind the binding. The core was broken and held together by the top and bottom plates. Took me two more chair rides to figure out what was going on.

what happened to me was similar. i blew out about a foot section of my sidewall. and, as i looked, i noticed the sidewall on the opposite side was also cracked. the top sheet was all bowed and bulging in front of my binding. so, i knew the crack went all the way through. sigh. oh well. i've had those skis for a few seasons now.

it sure is good to have friends though. ;)

i hear ya Sean. at least once a day while fly fishing, i question why i fly fish. it can be quite frustrating. makes me want to grab my spinning rod. i mean...i have fun with that too.

but, there is also a small (very small) period in time each day when everything comes together and i can feel that rhythm...the flow. and like an addiction, i continue to search for that feeling.

"Doing the bull dance. Feelin the flow. Workin it."

Where did you get that sweater? I had one like that I wore for years until my daughter put it in the washing machine, now my 8 year old son wears it!

LOL. that's funny. and i can empathize. i have also run a wool sweater through the washer/dryer. and, i didn't even have my kids to blame it on.

the sweater is a Cabelas brand. but, i got it at Goodwill for $4.99. ;)

There's definitely something calm and peaceful being out on the water by yourself...not much that equals that.
