There are lots of ships models within the museum, not surprising with the 100s of ships built in Glasgow over the years. Here are three of the most famous ships built at John Browns, Clydebank as mentioned in a previous post.

I wonder if the BEAN folks have a corner on the large mooring bollard market in the UK?I took this pic in West Bay, Dorset when visited in December 2018.

Looks like a very cool (and somewhat eclectic) museum, thanks for taking us along!
Beautiful campus!![]()
Just wonderful! Thanks for taking us around with Merle. Thought ya were a bit further north when I saw that pic of Ellie. Looked like Ellie was gonna get in there and round up Nessie like a cattle dog. Guess Loch Lomond can have its own water horse if it want's too!Well friends, I think Merle's time in Scotland is coming to an end. I was hoping to venture a bit further afield but my schedule is pretty full for the next week. I am sorry, Dave, we didn't make it up to Loch Katrine but we had a visit yesterday to the National Park and to the banks of Loch Lomond.
Pictured is Cameron House Hotel which had the main building completely renovated after a devastating fire in 2017. Note the almost perfect Saltire on top of the main house -took me ages to get that pic
The hotel reopened earlier this year and thankfully one of my favourite bars - The Great Scots Bar - was undamaged. As settings go, for a few pints, I don't think it can be beaten.
Ellie of course had to get in on the action.

Just wonderful pics! Mostly an Islay man myself as ya can see from the top shelf in our lil cantina here in the house:

Noticed the Buffalo Trace above the doorway on the right in your pic. That was scheduled for watching the festivities last night. Next to a wee bottle of the Glenfiddich some friends brought home to me from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, of all places last week.

Perfect shot of the Saltire!
I think ya've done it again! Cause I'm pretty sure I stayed there in the autumn of 1984. Third to last night of a three week trip, which was the last time I was in Scotland and we stayed at a place Lomondside. Your pics look like what I remember. But not a hundred percent sure. Last two nights stayed with another friend in Glasgow and then flew down to Heathrow as there were no direct flights into Scotland at that time from the US.
+1
Thank ya sir!thats some nice hooch!
How bout a new thread Barrett - knives on a Bean![]()
The museum is fantastic, I love all that old engineering. The old museum used to have way more locomotives which I always loved as a kid.

Excellent!
I feel like I’ve seen someone else post a photo with a knife on one of those, too, but maybe I’m imagining that.
That’s great. I thought the “old” Strathclyde police car was kinda cool looking, but of course there appears to be a ton of cool old stuff there. The building also looks pretty funky from above on Google maps.
Thank you so much for showing Merle around, I’ve really enjoyed your posts!I love the Nessie vibe in that second photo.
That bar looks like a great place to relax and enjoy a few, but with a name like that, they should really have a picture of Dr. Emmett Brown on that wall.![]()
Really?!I hadn't even noticed the shape of the log sticking out of the water!
I even forwarded a few of the pictures to my son, he's excited.Thank you John, hopefully it has given you some insight
