On the road again......

The Colonel built on the knowledge he gained during the war years in his training regimens which have morphed into modern point shooting and modern 'Combatives' and his book on Riot Control is extremely instructive...... Not terribly PC but marvelously effective.... One of my favorite techniques is to use a marksman to use a small caliber rifle to painfully wing a ringleader or two..... Nothing fatal but, painful....A shoulder perhaps....... Oh, well probably not gonna be used this week!!!!.....

More later......

The Israelis use or used this technique; they'd monitor demonstrations and/or riots and have a team with binos and a 10/22 pick out ring leaders or others, that they'd like to have a 'talk' with. They wing them and pick them up. Interesting and I bet effective technique. Indeed not very PC....

Ill refrain from doing that, but if this was implemented (highly unlikely), the current state of affairs/uproar would seem like childs play.

Dont think this would fly in the US...but Im skirting politics...or worse PracTac, so Ill leave it at that:D

I have been spending some time with my Son and Daughter-in-Law in Portland, OR and at my former Sister-in- Law's in Otis, OR......... Her place is on Cacade Head and has lovely views of the Salmon River estuary and Three Rocks...... Very thankful for her hospitality......

Spent the birthday with a nice easy hike to the top of Cacade Head..... Lovely walk in the woods through a couple of verdant micro climates to the prairie at the top..... Saw a cute little albino shelf fungus that was new to me and posed my Necker on a lovely fallen log at least thirty inches throug and a host to a myriad of flora.... Little Hobbit houses everywhere ..... A trip to Barnacle Bill's, home of the best smoked salmon anywhere...... Good time....

Thanks for the history lesson, glad to here you are having fun.
You mentioned a few books. I have a copy of Jeff Cooopers Modern Handguns I think you would like ( you probably have it) I am currently reading the survivors club by Ben Sherwood. A study of who survives and why. I think you would like it.

Hey Ethan, if you're planning on coming a little farther north to WA let us know. Jonny and I would love to see ya up here!!

Thanks Nix...and you too Johnny....

I have made it to Boulder mostly following the Oregon Trail...... What always tickles me is that first the guys on foot and canoe pioneered the trails..... The horse mounted men followed them, then the wagons and now,the trails pioneered by Jim Bridger, then engineered by Grenville Dodge in the late 1860's for the railroad is now I84..... When I crest a rise today I can see a tiny sliver of the future at a legal 80 mph in air conditioned comfort. An hour maybe, coming into Laramie from the west but, a guy on foot was looking at his next week or more......and at times a month...carrying a heavy pack at 5 mph under a brutal sun, in high winds... Daunting.......Very daunting ......

Bring your Amex and all the gold in the safe..... Might cover lunch..... Seriously, it would be a good time but probably not a place if you want to practice primitive skills..... If I hit the big lottery it will be party time for sure.... We will even import Coote and the Aussies.... And the Nords too, and gshark of course...... Big party.....

I like parties :D...

Splendid thread, love the stories and the pics here and on insta!

I am in Kearny, Nebraska awaiting Steve Johnson(Johnson Adventure Blades) and we intend to have a steak and a wee nip and some good conversation.... For those of you have not had the pleasure of Steve's company he is an endlessly creative fellow with a wide range of interests..... If you run into him at BLADE or SHOT try to spend a little time with him, it will be well worth your time......, Jesse Jarosz is unfortunately, for me, unable to join us as he is in Montana having too much fun.... Will be seeing Col Defender, Psyop and 1066Vik on the morrow..... Good times, good times.... E
