On Top Of Old Smokey

Were you on the Blue Ridge Parkway? I have been there. It overlooks Pisgah Forest and Blue Ridge Mountains which is a part of the Smokies (I think :D).

You have a beautiful family dude. You're truly blessed. :)

Great pics. The wife and I went there not too long ago also. Looks like you all have a very good time.

The Smokey Mountains are part of the Appalachian Mountains, and so are the Blue Ridge Mountains. But, they are different ranges, or that has always been my understanding of it, anyways. Both are great though. I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

You are absolutely correct - they are different ranges. I live in the Balsams which is on the eastern edge of the Smokies. Unlike either the Blue Ridge Mtns or the Smokies which run north-south, the Balsams run east-west.

The road shown in the slideshow is probably US 441 which runs from Cherokee, NC to Gatlinburg, TN. One thing I did notice is how our drought has affected the stream levels. In a non-drought year, those streams would be flowing much higher and much stronger.
