On Vacation Giveaway

Did you go to visit Elvis in Graceland?...How about the airport near there?

It's over I guess, all this free time has got me a bit off schedule. Carman is correct, 1 guess only.

The correct airport was Lihue in Kauai.

Someone figure out who was the closest for me please (all these Long Islands Iced Tea's and all ;)).

Thanks everyone.

Checking via Google Earth gives us:
hilo international airport ...hawaii
317 Miles

Kona International Airport at Keahole
262 Miles

Hana airport, Hawaii.
228 Miles

These were the only Hawaii airport posts I spotted.
Obviously Thomas has the final word, but it looks like drago6817 came the closest.
Congrats drago6817 (probably ;))!

Thomas, for your sake, I'm glad my guess was wrong (even if it means I don't win the Leek)!

Have an amazing vacation! Post some pics.

I was the closest, with my guess of the (International) Space Station.:D.:D.

Have a GREAT time on the Island(s).:).

Congrats drago, pm me where you want the knife shipped, and I'll get one out for you.

I would have given another one away for a Newfoundland guess.

Thanks kneedeep for figuring it all out.

Crap! Whoops, sorry glockman, totally missed your post!
The ISS orbits at about 208 Miles which would make your guess the closest by 20 miles!
Of course the distance to Lihue from the ISS depends on where it is over the Earth. So if we go by the time you posted your guess, 08-25-2007, 02:38 PM, the ISS was about 208 miles above Algeria, pretty much the other side of the planet so, quite a few thousand miles more than 228.

I suppose we can try the time that Thomas posted the end of the contest, 08-27-2007, 12:10 AM.
At that time the ISS was about 210 miles above a point approximately 300 miles northwest of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands in the South Atlantic; so still a few thousand miles away.

The last issue would be that technically, the ISS is a spaceport (no air). :D

Of course I have no authority in the matter whatsoever, I'm just the nerd that crunched the numbers. :)

Keep working on Thomas, that 208 is a pretty good argument, somewhere along the line that number is an accurate distance to Lihue. ;)

Congratulations drago! Enjoy your new knife! You've just made all the Leek nuts jealous. :D

Also, welcome to the forums!

Congrats, drago6817, for winning one fine knife from a nice guy!...(See, I'm not really a sore loser.:D.).
