"One armed man" exemption?

Federal Switchblade Act permits upper extremity amputees to possess and carry any switchblade knife with a blade 3" long or under.

It is my understanding that this federal exemption protects a one-armed man's right to possess a switchblade in all 50 states, even those that typically prohibit possession by non-LE or non-military.

Is this correct?

Thanks.

Only amputees, and not those with disabilities like carebral palsy? I live in Sacramento and have that same question? How would this effect an epileptic with carebral palsy , I know that the government let epilepsy fight in the civil war ! And that the government made it illegal in 17-18 states for someone like me to marry until 1980 ! How is this going to effect me being able to protect myself!

As I stated back in post #20, there is no exception in California law that allows disabled people to carry switchblades with blades 2" or longer.

Furthermore, in August of 2024 the US District Court for the Southern District of California ruled that switchblades "are not bearable arms protected by the Second Amendment". Kniferights is appealing that ruling.

Bottom line- As of this moment, if you carry a switchblade with a blade 2" or longer in the state of California, you are breaking the law and can be arrested and prosecuted. And there is nothing in Federal law that changes that. Your disability provides you no legal protection whatsoever when it comes to carrying a switchblade in California.

Protect yourself? Get a gun. LCR22 is a good choice for your needs.

Allen, please GO BACK and read what I wrote years ago. The Federal exception only applies to federal land........State laws control what happens within the state.
