One "bad" new custom Combat Fighting knife..

The only way I (myself personally) could see self-harm coming from the crusher would be if I spazzed out and fell on it, at which point the minor discomfort it would cause to me would be offset by the hell the rest of my body would be getting.

That said, it has VERY sharp corners that could easily cause you some grief if you get careless with it, but this isn't a whittler's knife we're talking about here... nor is it a fantasy toy. So as with all purpose-built weapons, it requires respect.

chuckinohio - tip down, edge forward is actually comfortable and natural feeling to me. That crusher, when pointing upwards could do some significant secondary damage as well as once again, those corners are SHARP.

Come to think of it, a serious sharp rap with the spine or broad side of the blade (1/4" thick steel) would definitely get someone's attention quickly... hurts just to think about that one...

Jeez... I love how folks are so happy to criticize without actually holding one. I was fortunate enough to acquire a very limited green tenite handled one at a gun show a few months back... apparently, the green tenite pieces were leftovers from way back when and are no longer available... VERY few knives were made with them...

That was exactly my point with regard to gunghou's post. He labeled the design :thumbdn: without any prior knowledge to having seen and handled the knife nor doing any reading research on Treeman knives which I thought was an uneducated opinion that was brought to bear. I have no problem with an opposing opinions, but please don't condemn a design as inherently bad without having handled same.

Also, great looking knife foghead. Apparently we have similar tastes. :D

I really like the look of this knife and from what I can see there wouldn't be any problem holding it in a reverse grip.

Absolutely correct deduction Keith. Jim and James Jr. experimented with this design for quite a spell before releasing it and now that I have her in my hand I can tell folks that this knife can be employed in both positions when one grips the handle forward or reverse..

In fact, in the reverse position with 4 fingers on the grip, and ones thumb on the spine/face of the skull crusher for support, thrusting at ones foe is quite effortless. Whether from a frontal assault or a back-cut strike.. Its quite impressive.

Anthony,
Post pictures when you get it

Roger that neeman. I got a little side tracked and should have posted here with these by now.

I own and have owned Randall's, Busse's, Stek's and classic Treeman fighters and others and they are fine combat cutting tools in they're own right. But make no mistake about this Treeman Combat knife. It is all muscle with its full tang construction and forged 1/4 thick stock of O-1 hi-carbon, profiled perfectly and razor sharp she is not your typical fighting knife.

Note: Although I found the skull crusher quite usful in either the pointed or rounded design, I opted for the rounded design for my knife because of extened pratical uses in both the obvoius combat use and for hammering when building shelters.

:eek:holy cow. that knife really looks like it would be a serious defense weapon! is this a bench made produktion blade or a true custom forged knive. please tell me more?

Just bumped this up to tell others that one of my partners, Jackson, just killed a decent size Hog yesterday with nearly 2 inch tusks with this Jim Behring forged Treeman Combat Hunter style knife near Okeechobee, Florida.. This was one of those close kill Hog Hunts and I was there and it was brutal!. I am talking blood sport Bloody..

Jackson nearly decapitated this animal on the first defensive chop--swipe.

His girlfriend has the pics on her cell phone and I am waiting to hear back from her towards the end of this weekend to post them here if that is permitted..

Man,, this knife works quite well and as intended.

Best,

Anthony

looks nice, but i think the placement of the tip is out of symmetry with the pommel, which in my experience (however lacking) makes a reversed grip lunge or puncture technique much less effective.
looks more like a chopper to me
