After what felt like an endless amount of collection shuffling over the last several years, I'm finally hitting the brakes. I've managed to get my collection to a point (and size) where it feels "complete" and manageable. Anyone else in a similar position with their collection?

A few years ago I bought the knife valet thing from Massdrop/Drop and told myself I would stop when it was full. I have. I asked for a knife for my birthday (next week) and to make room I will soon be selling one.

As someone with awful impulse control, this was a big help for me. I have an 8 knife pelican case that seems to be keeping me on a leash. I have one more spot that I have reserved for a non flipper XM18. I'll probably track one down for my birthday or Christmas later on this year.

Yes, I’m down to about 35 CRK’s and 40 Spyderco’s and around 40 various brands. I’ll be slowing the the buying down once knives that are being made don’t peek my interest. Seems like it’s working so far.

I recently told my Mrs. that I was going to quit fighting it and start a small collection of USA made folders instead of buying and trying and selling. She asked, knowing me, if I would like her to set some limits? I said yep that’s why I told you. Ill be stopping at 7 myself!!!

Of course knowing me it will be 7 of the same knife…

USA made was my main theme too with the only exception being the QuietCarry. I wanted something more or less rust proof in the collection. I sweat like its on my resume.

Nope...when I get a small Sebenza with an insingo blade, I think I'm gonna slow down a whole lot. I buy too much stuff that I'll carry once or twice when I first get it, then it ends up in the drawer. I finally figured out what I like and I'm sticking to them. Just might not be easy finding that insingo....

Sorry mine's not for sale. 😁

When I get to start feeling comfortable with my "One for each Day of the Month" choices: that's when I might start thinking about slowing down...

Yeah, I've been checking but my timing has been off. It's definitely not the hardest thing to get a hold of so I reckon when it's meant to be, it'll be. Trying to not buy something in the meantime is harder than I thought...

That does present a problem for many of us. I can't let my wife hold my credit cards...she will visit a jewelry store!
