So I recently acquired a new blackjack machax that looks different than any other I've seen. It's not stamped with mike's "one of a kind" crap but that's most likely the case.

Anyway this machax is marked. The markings are very similar to a early brute before all the blade were powder coated "sterile." The grind height is also higher than the typical blackjack machax, but lower then the Cincinnati era.

Under the BK&T it looks like there was something else written. I can't find another machax like this one online so I thought I would ask here if anyone has seen one like this before? Almost looks like it might say brute.

Also under the handles it's triple marked with the "Made in effingham, IL USA"

Also found a old action photo with a camillus machax a leather sheath. Anyone ever seen a camilllus machax come with a leather sheath like this?

Lastly, I was at the gathering admiring Ethan's machax prototypes from way back when. Most of them I had seen in photos online before, but not this one. This thing was amazing! Screw the bk9 hog hunter this is the pig sticker! Just thought I'd share the photo so it can get lost in the internet for all eternity.

mmm, interesting. is the coating paint or epoxy?

the handles look modern-ish

the sheath looks like a cold-steel job

that bottom one looks like a parkerized warrior. a good one.

photobucket is down for maintenance. I'm guessing thats the problem. hopefully they will be up and running soon.

i have never, ever seen a single knife marked up like that...

smacks of someone after market, decades later, trying to tart up some old seconds found in an auction box

afaik, Ethan confirmed that they never released knifes marked that way, for any reason, and i have a tendency to believe him

it's probably a chinese knockoff. i'd just toss it in a river.

damn, what a run of bad luck I've had. Every time I get a cool new becker it turns out to be a fake...

But for real here's the new "totally real official" story about this blade.

Mike had just got this machax off the line and he needed to market it. He thought maybe it would look good with the same stuff we put on the brutes.

Unsure if the stamp and the coating on the blade will agree with each other he practice stamps it three times under the handle.

He tried to make it work but the coating on the blade just leaves the markings slightly "blurred".

He later decides F#*k it! ill just powder coat all these mofos!

So he never makes another like this ever again!

and Ethan never found out this one of kind blade left the factory...

Now all these years later, this truly one of the kind blade resurfaces. All the other members on bladeforums are beyond envious. They must have this super rare blade.

Bladite in particular is just outraged that he doesn't have this machax in his collection.

Thats the new real and totally verified story about this blade.

the real problem seems to be that Ethan got paid for far less knives that were made and sold...

funny how years later, there are far more Machax than he ever knew about... ... ...

i bought AND returned a few on ebay, that were clearly "shop rejects". more than i care to admit to...

where are these things coming from?

one can only speculate...

I'm sure there were a lot of strange items coming out of the old Blackjack shop after the bank took over. I have seen some parts knives that were built up from whatever parts were lying around. Apparently the bankruptcy court did anything and everything to liquidate on hand assets. This could have been one that was a practice piece to mark up before sale.

We did get at least a few good beckers from the blackjack days, but you are right.

It is sad that Ethan did not not have the best experience at blackjack...

I say we all donate a dollar to Ethan and in return he brings back the Patrol machete !!! What do you say? Cmon EEEE

no way, bring back the cinci machax, both warrior and standard

big yeah :D

kinda sad about all the "weird shit" sold for monies that isn't necessarily authentic.

there's probably still a lot out there...

it's a machax thread, stop with thread drift already. clean it up. nobody likes that other knife :)

classic machax... parkerized. but 3/8 thick. possibly a bit longer, but not much.

square spine - none of that thinning nonsense, unless you want a distill taper in the handle.

it's not a machete. it's a choppah.

"get to the choppah"

ok got it Machax Thread but some of us like that abortion of a knife
A Blackjack wid da Cam Scales just another abortion I quess
