I got the folding Kalinga today and while the knife is fine there is something that just don't sit well;

The knife. Good fit in my hand, maybe a daily user.

Someone tell me there was a practical joker at work when the sheath was made. I don't wear his clothes, why is his name :barf:on my knife sheath:eek:? I might have to go buy dark sunglasses for when I wear this knife:D!

I'm not familiar with that name but would imagine that we did some sort of project for that company? Another thought, the place that makes our sheaths makes them for other companies as well and got one (?) of the snap caps mixed up.

Joe, Tommy Hilfiger is a clothing designer for the yuppie set which nobody in their right mind would mistake me for:rolleyes::D. He doesn't design clothes for those of us with Kentucky Dunlap.

Yuppie stuff!! :eek: Man, I got a lot of Tommy Hilfiger clothes, they're great stuff! :cool:

Happens all the time. The snaps are all made in China, bajillions punched out at a time. They very easily could have mixed a few together during production or packaging. It's not as if someone is checking each snap to verify that it carries the correct logo. Most likely if anyone noticed it during manufacture, they just didn't care enough to alert their line supervisor.

Now that's funny.....when you wear that one Mitch, be sure to give Tommy Hil the finger:eek: What not funny, oh well that snap is:p

The only thing I'll give Hilfiger is an invitation to go on the Extreme Makeover tv show.

Well, Mitch you convinced me, just pulled the trigger on one, not sure if it has the hilfiger button though. I didnt realize they had been disco'd. Looks like all Kalinga folders are gone from the lineup-anyone correct me on that.....I hope.

If this keeps up, I'm gonna have to have charge him a commision. Yea I know, the chances of getting it is right there along side of having a campaign promise be kept!:D

I didnt realized they have been gone since the 2010 catalog:o In 2009 the showed at $103 MSRP and I figger that retail is normally 40% off of MSRP, $60 would be normal and anything under that is a win.

I learned recently that missing from the catalog doesn't have to mean something isn't being made anymore. I have a 419 Kalinga with a date stamp from 2010 and the box it came in has a date printed on the label of 12/13/2010, so that model at least continued pretty near all the way through the first year that it was "discontinued".

J. Hubbard stated just a short time ago in regards to the old style, "discontinued" 442's that were showing up with new 2011 date stamps stamps, "Sometimes 'not in the catalog' does not mean fully 'discontinued', as is the case here."

Mitch, what's the date stamp on your new one?

Thanks Dave and I remember that being said. I was willing to go along with it becaust the auction site seller stated disco'd. Normally I wouldnt put much stock in this, but I have bought from him before(and I expect you have as well) and I know he actually lives in Post Falls and buys direct so I figgered it to be good info.
