I want to talk about a knife.
A while I go I hooked up with Al Warren, knifemaker. Working with him is a dream; I am paralyzed on the left side so have a lot of custom needs. He took his basic traditional knife and adapted it for me, adding a thumbstud and pocket clip, loosening the pivot as well. He even sent me excellent pics of different samples of ironwood so I could pick one out. I have worked with several knifemakers, and this was my easiest and best experience by far.

i also fell in love with the blade shape; I've been carrying a small Sebenza Insigno for a while, and found I really preferred this.
Now add the drama. The house sprung a leak somewhere in the walls. Water started bubbling up through the floorboards, not much at first and then over the course of a few days, getting worse. We had to get out, fast; my wheelchair was skidding and I worried about being stranded. The insurance company put us up in an accessible hotel and my wife packed up everything.
So there I was, with only my edc, the Al Warren. It was eight weeks before we got back; this was the only knife I had during this time.
This knife performed like a champ. Whatever I had to tackle, it handled just fine. And, by the way, I haven't sharpened it once, or felt I had to.
We're back now, with everything restored. This is still my carry knife, and I'm planning to get a another one from him, a different model.
You never know till you have to depend on it. This is one great knife.
