One hand folders. Stud or disk?

I'll take disk as it being mounted on the top of the blade gives the largest radius from the pivot and therefore, easiest open.

:)

i have some of both. to me it doesnt really matter as long as its some kind of serrations on there to provide grip. i think its more important that the knife is operation smooth

I like thumbstuds. But. like MWadel has mentioned, it is more important for the knife operation to be smooth.

I like studs that tuck into the handle when a blade is open. Disks do give a much greater surface area for grabbing, but I like how the studs when designed as above with the handle tuck away, leaving less things to catch onto other things.

(In my whisper voice, I now prefer large spyderco opening holes over everything so far. I switched from spyderhole to studs, and have come full circle... er hole.)

I like discs a bit more, they also make a nice thumb rest on the back of the blade when the knife is opened, imo.

I don't have any disks, but I do prefer a hole (Spyderco, Benchmade, AG Russell) or indention (Soque River) over a thumb stud.

As mentioned, the type of device is irrelevent if the action isn't smooth.

Holes used to be my favorite, but these days I prefer a well-designed flipper to any other opener.

I like the holes if they are big enough. Smallish ones like the David Boye folder of mine don't do it for me. I put a thumb stud on my Boye folder just for that reason. Kept missing the hole.

I've had all of them. The discs are fine and so are the studs so long as they are positioned correctly and not too abrasive to my thumb. Otherwise I like them fine. Mostly though I prefer a 14mm Spyderhole or a nice Waved folder.

Why not a combination of both (hole and disc)? How about the "Cobra Hood" of some of the Spyderco models. Easy to access and quick to open.

I prefer thumbstuds over the disc. I don't care for the discs on the BM 905 and BM 910.

On certain Spyderco's I like the hole, but mostly I like Benchmade.

I actually prefer the oval hole in my 550 Griptilian to the round Spyderco hole.
