I would really like to see a Victorinox "Tinker" model knife with the improvements of a one handed opening, locking blade, with the same basic shape and size (and color), and maybe a pocket clip. That would be the one I'd carry most often, I think.

Jedi,

I actually contacted Swiss Army Brands and
suggested that they adapt one of their larger, locking knives for one hand opening. A person who claimed to be in R&D for Victorinox said they had been considering it.

I had in mind the Cowboy model. It has the one large blade and the phillps screwdriver. I think any of their knives of that size and style would be a simple conversion.

Maybe if we keep pushing, they will come around.

I got no response when I posted this very same idea in response to a thread in the Spyderco forum. Here it is:

What I think would be a great product, if a SAK maker or a Spyder/CRKT/BM maker would do it:
- a good steel blade, maybe a SAK-style utilitarian spear point
- a low profile one-hand stud opener
- a decent lock, like maybe the Boy Scout style leaf-liner
- throw in a few tools (flat driver, one of those flat Phillips drivers, can/bottle opener, handle tweezers/pick)
- maybe a pocket clip - preferably a deep pocket like the Gerber AR3.00 or Genesis
- wrap it all up in a PC, non-threatening RED SAK-style handle.

I guess it would kind of be like a one-handed "Rucksak" model, maybe a little smaller. Benefits are one handed open, locking blade, coupla nice tools - and totally acceptable to the sheep. One could even leave the fingernail opener on the blade for two-handed opening.

I think it would be a real winner, and open up the one-hand/pocket clip market to those who would never consider one of our black handled tacticals.
