Recommendation? one handed opening gent/traditional knives?

Case trapperlock. Check em out. Pretty much exactly what you described and right at the price you're looking for....

Get the 110 and a little kwik clip thumb stud to add to it.

You have the knife you want, a one handed 110.

If you can find a cold steel Mackinac in stock somewhere with thumb studs and not the nail nick version, it is right up your alley.

One thing to consider... with many of the traditional folder designs, the height of the blade is rather short. This puts your thumb awful close to the edge of the blade while thumbing it open. Similarly, many of the traditional knives do not have finger choils on the blade, and also are limited in your options to close them one handed, i.e. against your leg. It might be worth it to purchase a good quality, but less expensive traditional knife to experiment and see if trying to get a one hand opening version (or modifying it with aftermarket thumbstuds) is really worth it.

I used to carry a case trapperlock pretty often but a few months back I picked up an enzo birk with curly birch scales. It's definitely a modern knife but it still has a fairly traditional look.
They are both worth a look.
