Andy we have heated fishing docks down here built just for Crappie fishing. But we caught these on an open dock in an offshoot of the Mcclellan-Kerr Waterway going to the Port of Catoosa.
There's about three weeks outta the year when you can catch lots of Crappie from the bank; when they are spawning. This was the first weekend but the fishing may be set back now due to the storms we have going tonight.
We're fishing about 4' to 4-1/2' deep.;) :D
During other parts of the year they can be 30' deep and the heated docks generally set over deep water either with natural sructure underneath or man made structure like old Christmas trees.

I've never heard of this. Heated docks. What do they do for the crappie. I remember us fishing them at 12-14' in the Achalafaya Basin in Louisianna. Or, using little in line spinners and reeling real slowly. Fun and good eatin.

Easy to clean and pan fry. Friday I'm going backpacking into a remote area of the Hamilton range to sample the excellent crappie fishing at old cattle tanks and homesteader ponds. This time of year they should be in the shallows and ready to grab anything you stick under their noses.
