One Knife for One Year

I think I could do it if I pulled the scales off of an rc4 or rc3. It would be difficult to carry at work and I'm sure I'd get fired if anyone saw me use it. As far as outdoor activities I think I'd be ok. I'd have to relearn a lot of things but that's usually a good thing.

Reading through this thread got me thinking... there was a time when I did this. It wasn't to challenge myself or anything like that - It's just that I only had 1 knife that I used for everything (SAK). This was before I started collecting knives, so my SAK was the knife I carried daily, used in the kitchen, in the woods, used at work, etc.

Since this is Bladeforums, most of us will find it hard to stick to one knife because we are all knife enthusiasts and collectors. I think that you'll find that most people will get by just fine with only one knife for a year.

I do not hesitate to carry a 4.5" fixed on a dangling sheath here in town but I don't really care about sheeple or their opinions. I greet people with a smile and not one has questioned my knife. At work does have different rules though. Folders in pocket only.

Christoff, I was talking about a slightly longer LBK or short Mini Bolo. I will have to keep chewing on that. It would be teamed with a necker so fine work if not an issue but I do not want to go so long as to have comfort carry issues and chopping is low on the list for me.

Yeah, even a 7-8 inch leuku isn't really a dedicated chopper, though it serves. The mini bolo is dead on for what you are talking about, though.

If I want to chop, I move to a 3/4 double bit axe or GB 20 model(dont recall the name), short of that I have a Philippine Barong. I also like Goloks but really end up batonning or using as a drawknife(pushknife) more than chopping.

I prefer a med/long blade knife paired with a necker/small belt knife & a real chopper for when it comes. But I am obviously not a one knife person.

The medium belt knife would be the first I pick up and the last I would let go.
