It would be very foolish of me to trade all my knives for any single knife. No wait...
I'll take a HI 30" mega-salyan in 24K gold (with a 24K gold scabard) I'd melt it down and sell it. I may be knifeless but I'd be a wealthy retired knifeless man. (I'd have to get lot's of guns though)

Assuming I play along with this, my choice would be a 6" Don Fogg Tanto, cordwrapped hilt in 52100. Yeah, I know Mr Fogg doesn't usually do 52100...

What a horrible thought! But, if I had to, I would choose the Victorinox Locksmith.

Thanks for asking.

First my requirements: If I had to carry it all the time, it would have to fold for convenience. I would want it to be custom made for the superior attention to detail and craftmanship that only a handmade product can offer.

I love my Sebenzas for their super strong integral lock mechanism, so it would have to have this type of lock. I also love my Camillus (Talonite) Talon for it's corrosion resistance and long lasting sharpness, so this would be important too.

The Tom Mayo TNT (Talonite aNd Titanium) in the standard size would pretty much do it for me. All I need to do is save up enough to get my hands on one.

This is an easy one. I'm really surprised and dissapointed that VG hasn't been in here and come up with this one yet. It's simple, I'd just cheat my knife lovin' A$$ off! Oh, dont' get me wrong, I'm an honest fellow. But, sometimes you just have to make exceptions to every rule. I'd dig a big hole in the woods and bury all my knives individually vacuum packed and well oiled in a watertight piano case, then calmly pick my favorite kinfe and smile the whole time.

Of course, I'm a forgetful bastid, so I'd wind up forgetting all about my buried knives and wind up with just one anyway. So, I'd have to pick a Keeslar integral gaurd, distally tapered camp knife in the 4" blade length with natural micarta scales. Forged, of course. Any other questions, Dan the one knife man? One knife hah! Come to the chat room so we can talk this over like gentlemen. hehehe

Heaven forbid that would happen. Lets see, I really like the Rolling Lock and the handle shape on my Carnivore, Hmmmm, how about a Pat Crawford Carnivore with a mirror polished blade in D-2
and a nice Cocobolo handle or blue micarta. Yea, that sounds like the ticket. I can remove the clip to drop it in my pocket for nice occasions and put it a Gary Graley sheath for everyday wear.

No problem!

All I want is King Arthur's original sword Excalibur. I would sell it for a fortune, get into gun collecting, and hire a valet to follow me around with Busse Combat Mistress, large SAK, Leatherman Wave, and Ed Fowlers Pronghorn. It would have to be Victorian style five star camping with champaign and caviar.

Now, how do I cut up that filet mignon?

Such hostility at the thought that you would have to give up your children, a a a I mean knives. OK, I am the dictator and I will allow you to have one folder and one fixed blade.

Phew! I came into this one at the perfect time.
Without taxing my brain too much (it's Sunday, after all) I'll say
Folder: large Sebenza in Graley sheath.
Fixed: original Loveless drop point hunter with micarta scales and his "Nude" logo, in a Kenny Rowe sheath.

Even though I don't yet have one (sigh...), I think I'd have to say a large Sebenza, tastefully decorated. That's providing someone else was buying. If I had to buy my own, I'd have to say my Victorinox WorkChamp! It's extremely versatile and even has a large locking blade.

Hmmmm would have to figure out how long I intended to live! if it were going to be a short time would be one thing, but I sorta like to stick around a while longer and one knife ain't gonna do it!

Had to make the choice when I took a trip overseas recently and that alone was terrible!

One fixed blade....don't know about that, probably something from Tim Zowada would do the trick, or if the situation said we could force a maker that isn't making right now to create something, then probably Jimmy Fikes would be a good choice for a fixed blade guy!

One folder....Small wood inlay Sebenza, lucky for me I have this one already!

Tough stuff, always hate these There can Be only ONE threads, too hard on the limited brain pan and too many makers out there, hmm that reminds me, a Tim Herman would be nice folder.....have to give that some thought, if this ever comes about let me know right away!

How about TWO fixed blades? I don't want to have a broken knife for the rest of my life.

Alright, I'm probably going to get flamed for picking out such an easily obtainable and reasonably priced knife but for my folder it's a benchmade 710 in M2 tool steel with it's wonderful axis lock. That nearly 4" blade will do almost anything like prepare food or gut and skin a deer or protect me from others. Yes it's slightly large to carry but if I only get one I'd rather have too much knife than not enough.

Fixed blade- Lile Deathwind (an absolutely excellent knife. Expensive, but very underrated. perfect balance and workmanship. While it looks like it was designed primarily for fighting, it also could be a skinning and general utility knife. Don't chop, though) or a 6-8" Millenium Black by Jerry Hossom in 3V.

Folder- Spyderco Wegner. Would prefer it with a compression lock and D-2 or better blade (instead of liner and ats-34, but we'll see) or perhaps the new D-2 Sifu coming out.

If I could only have one knife, I would stick with my Emerson CQC6 - well made, strong, simple design and easy to care for.

Regards,

Ed

It would have to be a Hartsfield Zahid Special, 1/4" A2, ultra sharp and bullet- proof and for the folder, a sebenza, time tested reliability.
