One Knife Life

I haven't owned a Bugout . . . and I suspect you haven't owned a Litlguy (that was my license plate).

Actually I drove more than once my Grandma's Civic and drive a Focus myself, both quick in corners but far from fast in a straight line or acceleration wise, so I know where you're coming. I just look up and want something with both good cornering and straight line speed instead of sticking to what I have. I don't have the money for a 911 GT3 just yet though. :D
I am a small cars and big knives kind of guy when it comes down to it. I like the look of a F-150, RAM, Tahoe, but I'd never want one, horrible thought to drive them on our European Roads.

Or just quitting everything except water, you can survive by just drinking water, but there is so much more variety when it comes to thirst and keeping hydrated.

Lol when I’m being good I only drink water. When I’m not being good, I also drink Coke and Mountain Dew. I don’t drink alcohol or coffee or anything else.

I don't drink alcohol or coffee, myself. I prefer juice. I'll drink soda if I am out and about but, it's rare that I even have any stocked in the fridge.

I have watched you scale back your knives and such with great interest. You have even motivated me to scale back, or, at least consider it. I figure if I start now, I should be finished about when my wife is ready to retire, in two to three years. Then we can move/travel a lot easier.

BTW, the last I knew, you had four knives. A duty folder, off-duty EDC, fixed blade, and something else. Don't remember what. What happened to the others?

Not a fan of cars though. Trucks and Jeeps all day!
What is the obsession with all the tail gating when they get behind something "different".
Have you looked at the most recent grills; huge and flat. As if the most pleasure they can derive from life is "imagining" the "fear" induced in the mind of the driver in front of them from seeing that "frightening" image in a rear view mirror.
Seriously . . . someone. . . apparently a lot of someones . . . buy a truck/SUV for that !
Even REAL trucks are aero dynamic; why not want their big dully wanna be to be like the big trucks ?
There are many things in this life I don't understand; doesn't keep me from having fun with it though.

Naturally ! A person needs a truck.
Of course . . . I always wanted one of the old army surplus jeeps for fooling around with on a day off.
Times change; now I'm in the "BigCity" (and getting bigger as if there were actually enough water here to support all the growth) just trying to pay rent.
The Chef came home today and said South Dakota . . . maybe we need to move to South Dakota.
koubee koubee

In our case, Idaho or Arizona. Just out of California would be good.

European Roads.
Oh . . . got it. Nice !
I pretty much just do the speed limit. Society just works better that way.
As I always say hey buddy if you want to go fast why don't you buy a real car and drive it on a track at its full potential . . . or better yet buy a small jet.
OK I'll get back on topic now.

Thanks for the kind words. The fixed blade (Esee 4) I sold maybe six months or so ago; not quite sure on the exact time frame but sometime in the last year. The Spyderco Pacific Salt I thought I lost. Months later I found it in a mesh pocket on my safe door (apparently yellow doesn’t stand out much through thick black mesh...) but I sold it to a coworker. I carried them occasionally but never really used them so it didn’t make sense to hold on to them. I’ve enjoyed the slim down to only two because I was carrying one or the other every day. Now since my job and work attire has changed I no longer have a need to carry the Grip. That’s why it’s now being considered for downsizing.

THAT'LL WORK ! ;)
I'm a sucker for that deep grooved style of black handle. Haven't bought one yet. I'm trying to cut back (translation don't have any money right now).
I dig the heck out of my Ritter !
Why are we talking about anything else now ?
I forget.:(

You are going to live a long, healthy, and utterly miserable life. :)
I'm with you brother. Join me now won't you in saving this soul.
Can I get a witness !
Embrace all the good and uplifting things that Bob has provided his flock with.
Can I get an amen !

I know - it sucks to have the same IQ level all day. Coffee in the morning, +10. Alcohol in the evening, -20. Repeat.

I'm getting close to this, but I'm not quite there yet. I like to keep a few dedicated blades stashed where I need them (glove box, bugout bag, hiking pack), and don't see any reason to get rid of those. I also like having a second knife for when my main EDC is out for sharpening.

...But beyond those, it's sentimentality and not wanting to make a choice I'd regret later that's kept me from paring down to one. I'm down to single digits, though, and really should sell about half of what I still have.

Don't do it. Sooner or later you will get bored with the Bugout, and wish you never sold the Grip. Plus there are sooooo many sweet knives out there right now. Variety is the spice of life baby!

Honestly, by just looking at the pictures of Bugout a few times I am already bored with it. I am with b00n b00n on this I just dont get the rave.

As I get older, I am going to simplify and start paring down, too - but my plan is to simplify and pare down everything else before I start shedding any knives... I get a lot of enjoyment from them, and from the variety of being able to carry a different knife every day of the month if I so choose. I've never actually done that, but I like having that as an option.

I’ve been on a minimalism journey for the last two years or so and have been progressively decreasing my possessions. I paired down substantially further a week or two ago right before my move. Still have things I need to shed soon though. I frequently go through my stuff and trim the fat so to speak. This is just another one of those things I’m thinking of letting go

If it interests u to do so, then do it! It obviously does. And if u decide u don’t like the one knife life get more. They’re not going anywhere soon. Good luck let us know how it goes if ya do.
