One Knife ( maybe for life ? )

For the last 12 months I've carried a Delica 99% of the time .

I made a conscious decision a year ago to only purchase and carry Delicas of some kind .
I have read many threads on Blade forums about people who for what ever reason make the decision to forgo all temptation and carry only one knife .
The thought , concept , idea , essence , ethos , nature and vibe of that dedication has always intrigued me , but the knife buying addict in me has never allowed it to be a reality .
Then one day while using my D4 ZDP189 at work it struck me , I already owned a couple of Delicas and they were as close to my ideal knife as I had found so far .
So in a lightening bolt moment it occurred to me if I only carried Delicas I would be the mythical " One Knife " guy I had read about , but there was nothing in the rules that I could find that said it couldn't be a different Delica each day .
Over he last 12 months my Delica selection has increased to 14 and there are very few situations that present themselves that one of those 14 different models can't overcome .
I can choose a different knife everyday or stick with the same one for days on end , get a bit sick of the color then carry a different one tomorrow , feel the blade steel isn't correct for the upcoming days tasks then swap it for a different steel , a bit bored with FRN carry the custom scaled one , want a shorter blade configuration then carry the Kahr .
This " Only Delica " idea has been a huge success and I have no plans to change anything apart from maybe buying more Delicas .
So if you have contemplated becoming a One Knife dude but always thought it was an unattainable dream then think again .
Choose your preferred Spyderco FRN model which retail for prices that allow multiple purchases and go crazy .

I get what you're saying, but doubt that I could overcome the temptation to be unfaithful. If I did this, my choice would be the Spyderco Native 5.

I got a Delica this year and I decided to sell most of my other knives in 2017 as I realized that I won't need them anymore...

The Delica is my usual pocket knife (along with a Vic). I do not really need any others. The Delica is my favorite Spyderco. I would like to see the Delica offered in a greater variety of steels, however.

My Pacific Salt hogs my pocket more than anything in my collection. I honestly just love it, i love the fact i never have to worry about corrosion, being able to just rinse it off as i please anytime anywhere. Edge lasts decently for what it is and it takes me 7 seconds to have it screaming sharp again on the sharpmaker stones. I think i'm going to buy doubles and triples of these H1 knives. Apart from that i love my cold steels and benchmades, i know i don't need most of them, i just love to collect what i feel are the best models from the brands i like. Problem is there is quite a few :)

If you have 12 different Delicas in different steels it's not really one knife is it? Might as well get the xtra long Delica. They call it an Endura. Get the Delica with a different shape and lock, it's called a griptillian. Still those are technically Delicas.

I'm just messing around; Delica is such a good knife. If the only model I could ever have was a Delica I wouldn't feel lacking. Still I might be tempted to get one of those long Delicas.

That is what I think of my Pacific Salt. Only knife that has never left my pocket since day one. It truly is EDC perfection for me, so I have bought multiples (something I rarely doo) and have backups, just in case.
It's my "one for a lifetime" Spydie

I see. You really don't need to question your limit now since you limit yourself to only ONE. LOL

With your write up and Pics...

I really cannot argue with you in regards to a Spyderco. So I will leave it at that.

Different steels...

Different color even different feel with the G10.

i assume this doesn't apply to fixed blade needs, just for folders right? so what is your one fixed blade?

Good taste right there mate, a perfect trio you got in hand. I don't see my Pacific Salt ever leaving my carry rotation.

Naaa - Never happen with me - Variety is the spice of life. I get bored easily, but I really like my PM2's, Techno, Slysz Bowie, PPT, etc, etc, etc........

Same here! I really like the Delica but there are too many other models I like as well or better. I love having a variety of different models, locks, blades, sizes, etc to choose from.

The Manix2 and PM2 for me. It is mainly due to the thumbhole size. I'll probably get a Para 3, but the large thumbhole is really important to me

I had a blue handled Delicate. Once.....

It has gone missing. I've looked high and low.

I'm has sad.

I have a reprofiled and reground Atlantic Salt that Krein did for me back in 2008. I could probably carry only it if I were forced to!:D

I have no interest in being a "one knife for life" guy ... but I do own 6 Manix 2's. I could pull it off if I had to.

I think I go with 1 maybe 2 knives for life if life and activities remained fairly stable then that knife or two might change, I'm pretty used to carrying the same knife for a while but since acquiring more I switch them up since I really like all of the ones I have, I wish I could carry them all or have an assistant to carry them.

I do like a lighter smaller knife in the summer since I wear lighter clothes unless I'm carrying a satchel, and a heavier one in winter. I'd really like an Endura in G10 I know they made one b4 but it's discontinued, and there are custom scales of course but ones I've seen cost more than the knife itself, but if going for 1 knife to rule them all it might be worth it, this is hard.
