Nice Ken, a man with a purpose, very encouraging to read your thoughts on this.
Myself, I've been, as others have, looking for THE knife, without much success, good to see someone that has narrowed it down to a small Clan of variations of the same folder, basically one folder as you pointed out, very cool idea.
As some may remember, a very long time ago now, my first Spyderco was a Delica, blue handled and full serrations, sold directly across a small table at the Ashokan Seminar by Mr Glesser himself, I remember clearly opening the knife and slicing through some crumpled receipt paper, knife didn't hesitate or hang up, but cut quite cleanly through, which I smiled greatly as did Sal

He had visited that year and brought a box of things he thought we all might like and was correct.
But that one I know not of it's final destination, as it has long since been gone from memory as to what happened with it. Which brings us to now, Ken's posts had me searching for a Delica to try out again and I wanted to see a version with the Hap40 steel. Got one, very nice knife, but overall it was small for my needs and I moved her along.
Nothing at all wrong with the knife or steel, which was pretty cool lamination, just wasn't THE one for me. Right now I'm sporting the Manix 2 in Maxamet steel and will make a report after a bit of use, slightly larger than the Delica and suits my needs better, handle is also a bit thicker as well.
So, good on ya Ken, you'll need to take a nice photo with the blades open as well, in a neat pattern
