If you could only have one knife, what would it be, and why? I`m expecting a lot of different answers depending on what your daily uses are. Of course, this is only for fun, we all know we need lots of knives! (JK`s of course) ;)

If I could only have one, it would be one that I don't have yet. A Lobo. I've loved the design from the first time I saw it and it just looks like it would do anything.
Of course the Rule #9 is the perfect knife but you didn't ask about perfection.:D

got to come up with a better way of saying this, but it's still the Jk toby's Knife :)

I knew it would be, and for good reason. It`s a very versatile design, small enough to carry everyday, big enough to get the job done!

My Phoenix.

The Phoenix is a knife that has me confused. It`s a nice size, feels good, can be had in scandi or convex grind, but I`ve only sold 4 or 5 of them. Someday people will wake up and order one, that`s why I`ve been too stubborn to remove it from my line!

Well, I haven't had it long or used it much yet but right now I'd probably have to say my JK Kephart HD. What time I have had and used it, I'm really liking it. Very comfortable in hand, big enough to handle most any chore and not so big that it can't be easily carried. The blade shape also works well for most any use.

By the way John. I had a customer come by yesterday and I showed him my Kepharts. He really liked them, especially the HD. He said he was glad I showed them to him as he was thinking about getting a gift for his son and he said his son is really into knives. I gave him your website so maybe you will hear from him.

I loved my Phoenix!! It was definitely a amazing tool. Hopefully I'll win the raffle one up now. If not I'm ordering another one :)

The Tool!

But it could easily be a Kephart,Phoenix,Camp knife,Hudson Bay or Lobo.

Well, when we were designing it, the contours you added "made" the handle. It is about the perfect size for food prep, isn't too big or too small, has a good handle:blade ratio, and is stout enough to baton and drill with...maybe a passaround? We haven't done one in a long time. I actually considered joining the raffle, but I really don't need another knife.

Perhaps a Monday special?

For me, it is the JK Improved Bowie. And it always travels with the JK Hunter's Hawk.

My JK Otter Creek would serve me well for any task I am likely to come across. I hasn't left my side since I got it and experienced the incredible edge retention.

One knife? It would have to be a folder, since I would want to have it with me 24x7.

If I had to keep only one knife, and my life would not change (i.e. I would be doing the same things that I do now) -

I would need a knife that could open boxes (cut tape, strapping etc)
If it could open cans and bottles (corkscrew) that would be a plus
Tweezers and a toothpick? Yea - nice to have.

I would choose my Victorinox Waiter. I have had it at every gathering, every Bulls Game, every day at work, every day working in the yard.

Yea- that is my gotta have it every day companion.

Which JK would I choose?

My Galley Wag - it is the right shape, the right size, and I think John's 01 is just fine in 1/16" - you can baton if you want and it is a great slicer, and you could skin out any animal with it.

There you are - there are many "right" answers to this question, and John: You have provided many "right" answers to the question.

I have to agree with that statement.

From what I have, I'd keep my fallkniven f1.. I can use it for everything if I have to, even though there's a knife that will outperform it at every task it will outperform the other knife at several other tasks if you see what I mean.

JK,

I think this question simply does not have enough data to answer.

For me - I need to know location. My knives vary GREATLY based on ecosystem.

Can I cheat and ask for my location? How did you intend this question?

It`s meant for your location, and what you use a knife for.
