One knife.

In the new year I only know I will be able to buy one knife. I really hope I will get more (probably will) but my wife said I could buy a really nice knife because I commented that the Fallkniven F1 I bought her brother for christmas was better than I had bought for myself in a while. So this one doesn't really have a budget, more money just means waiting longer. Okay I won't let myself go over $600, unless I really really find something I like. She also said I could get a sword or the FX Darth Maul light saber instead, but I know what answer I would get here if I asked which one.

So assuming I get a knife: I want a fixed blade with a really nice fit and finish, four to eight inch blade, and metal finger guard. Other than that I am just looking for something that I really like. Got any suggestions?

it seems like the fallkniven thor from their northern lights series would be about exactly what you are looking for. http://www.knifeworks.com/browseproducts/Fallkniven-THOR--Model-NL1--10--Blade.HTML

also ag russell field knife: http://www.agrussell.com/ag-russell-field-knife-2/p/RUhhhT613BM/

Star Wars is awesome and the FX light sabers by Hasbro are COOL!

I was planning to keep an eye on the for sale area, but hadn't thought about maybe putting in an order for something special, will have to think about that.

Many of the guys will build you just what you want and I'd say for around 300 you would be more than able to get something very nice.

I have been looking at the Fallkniven Northern Lights Knives, but am leaning more toward a custom. If I do get one custom I am definitely going for something special, and quite possibly larger than mentioned, a short sword or large dagger perhaps.

Here's a cool link to look at: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=734468

Contact Tad Lynch and have him make you a Turkey Mountain Chopper.

Not quite what I am looking for. One thing I always have thought about getting was a scottish dirk, or norse seax. On the sword front I would love a german longsword, or a norse sword similar to Albion Sword's Valkyrja. Sadly though I can't afford a similar sword, at least not one I have found.

For $600, I'd get two CRK Green Berets (5.5" blade, and you can't go wrong with a Chris Reeve)!!

Check out GL Drew's knives. They pop up from time to time on the Maker's for sale forum. He's doing some really nice forged knives, and I think he gives you the best bang for the buck of just about any custom maker right now. JMO, of course...

If your only going to get one knife this year it HAS to be a Busse.

I hope that I will find the budget for more than just one knife, but as of late may tastes have been getting more expensive. I am thinking about Busse, but for this one I want something a little more traditional, I fairly certain I want a wood or leather handle. But at this point I am keeping all options open. A Busse is definitely on my short list though.

Sounds like a new Fallkniven NL1 is right for you. KnifeWorks has them for $450 which leaves enough money for a Junglas, RC-4 or one of the big Beckers. :D
