Here is a knife I made for a customer recently, it was a gift for his dad, he wanted something different. Thought I would see what you guys thought of it. The blade is my Pro Hunter and is 4-3/4" long. 5/32 thick 440C. hollow ground and mirror polished. The hardware is nickel silver. The prong horn handle was put in a vacum pot for two days, with wood hardener thinned with acetone. I think the blade should have been bigger for this handle, but this was what the customer wanted, and he was happy with it. I had never used prong horn before and this was a fun project to do, and I kinda of like the way it turned out. Any comments welcome. Thanks for looking.

Nice one Dale. It looks kind of "artsy" but very usable too. The plates and spacer are cool. I've never used prong horn either. Is it hollow? Stink when grinding like hair? I like the looks and texture.

I can get a stack of prong horn antelope horn as I grew up and still have family in eastern Montana. I have been wondering about the smaller ones for use as a handle leaving the tips on. I would think you could heat it in boiling water and reform it somewhat to make it's shape conform a bit better if need be.

Bruce they are hollow quite far up and they are more like cow horns than deer or elk antler.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Yes Bruce it is hollow, it was about 3/16"- 1/4" thick after I got the soft core out of it, and yes it stinks like hair burning, my German Shepard loved it when I ground on it. ib2v4u I may try boiling a piece to see if it can be formed,I think I have a small piece left, great idea. Thanks for looking, and the kind comments. J.D.
