why is it when you have a good grind on a blade , you tell yourself just one more pass . then you need one or two more to fix the one more pass?

Vern, Didn't you know that the expression, "Leave well enough alone" came from a knifemaker?:p

sometimes if you are lucky and holding your tongue right, that "one more pass" can do wonders. i have the same problem vern. it just makes you better at fixing thoes "one more passes":D

Now come this worked for the last three times but it didn't this time?
Stay with it. It will happen as you want when you want, if you keep trying !!! Frank

When i get that urge, i do whatever the urge was by hand...much harder to screw it up.

My anxiety grows by 99% once the handles/guard/bolsters are attached. That blade is then like a ticking time bomb waiting to get a scratch that i'll never be able to fix while maintaining the finish the way I want it....

Vern, It takes two knifemakers to make a knife. One to do the work and the other to tell you that the knife is done.

Wait... you can fix that "one more pass" with ONLY 2 passes? please tell me how? :D

With me it's usually "one more heat" as Whit can attest to after forging with me Saturday.... one more heat and I get a nice metal banana shaped pointy thingy that takes about 4 heats to straighten back out :p

Just remember, Vern, you know when you're getting better not by how nice your grinds are, but when you can fix the grinds you screw up :D
