So far Im thinking.

Marbles woodcraft:
-0170-6 Carbon Steel
-Diamond wood handle
-Brass fittings
-Leather sheath

Buck Alpha hunter:
-ATS-34 stainless steel

Got a Grohmann/Russell Belt Knife, Fonly?

(Forgive me if you have discussed having one already...)

I own a trailcraft in jigged bone and a fieldcraft in oak,imo the oak is really nice! And isn't as expensive as some of the other materials.I say go for the marbles, there not talked about much but from my experence are wonder, beautiful knives!

Yeah, and as far as I know their made down south(states)? I hope......

If not, im not going for it. But should it be Im really starting to like it. Looks like my #4 but in carbon, and I know I could get a #4 in carbon, but I wanted a diffrent looking knife with similar attributes.

The marbles has a convex grind correct?

Fonly,
What's the matter? Weren't my posts good enough for you on that other Arctic survival forum? :D

Marbles has a convex grind and is made (at least the PLainsman, Fieldcraft, Woodscraft, Trialcraft) in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan.

The Northwoods knives are from there too.

Correct, and like marcinek said, the good ones are still US made,my fieldcraft has it stamted on the blade.

One look at the "damascus" ones over at smokey mountain and you'll know what the imported ones look like:eek:

Thanks for that Rapid River link, Rupestris! I was unfamiuliar with that brand.

:thumbup:Boy, do you fellas in Michigan make any ugly knives? I haven't seen one!

I have heard the Alpha Hunters are not very comfy !!!

As have I, another reason the Marbles is looking better abd better.

Made from my neibours
Carbon steel
Cocobola handles
Brass fittings
Affordable and avalible in canada for a decent price ($80)

This is a knife dream come true.

No problem marcinek.
I only have one of theirs (so far). A Skinner model from their regular line. Its 1/4" thick at the spine with a convex grind and secondary bevel. One stout knife.
Service is very good too.
Chris

I'll cast another vote for the Marble's Woodcraft. I like the Woodcraft a lot. Its a classic.
