There is a certain airport in an unidentified part of north texas between dallas and ft worth that frequently hassles the travellers with respect to knives.

But right after security is a restaurant that puts monster steak knives with blades well in excess of 4 inches right on the tables... probably no more than 50 feet from the watchful eyes of the minimum wage "security" folks. Egad!

that remindes me of the airport in Harligen, where I was felt up by some monster heffer and patted down with a metal detecter wand.

but at least I got my knife through

Uno, you may not intend to offend, but IMHO, you do.
Wouldn't "Cheese & Crackers!" "Golly" or "Wow!" do just as well?

For the record, I was not offended. Perhaps, sig lines with a Christian slant should be banned so as not to offend non-Christians. Or maybe we should all grow up not let this board devolve into a flame war.

aargh! please don't start this argument here. how about starting another topic... or maybe blowing it off. i agree that many Christians would be offended at one post; i am sure others may be offended at "Christian" themed .sig files ... I heard a rabbi's comment re: the repeated invocation of the name of Jesus by political candidates on the radio today... something like "It's always nice when they profess admiration for a nice Jewish guy." I can not tell or suggest when and where you profess your faith; I can urge everyone to be sensitive of others feelings and tolerant.
Or, I can do that in private and talk about KNIVES here!

Sound okay?

Fracmeister,

I've been through said airport many times for business in the past 18 months and I've never had a problem. As a matter of fact, DFW and DSM (Des Moines, IA) are two of the most knife friendly airports I've seen.

Now I don't carry anything TOO questionable through the airport but knives like the CRK Large Sebenza have passed without incident.

Just my two pennies,

i work for an airport and the security is pretty high. so when traveling by air i take my brand spanking new Spydercard. you just take it in your wallet and place it in the bowl with your change and watch and meet it on the other side of the gate....

Sounds fine to me Frac!
I ALWAYS leave my daily carry in the car @ the airports here in NYC. They did let my Pop thru security once with his SAK, then again he is a senior citizen, kinda respectable looking. Not like this aging, long haired freak...Old hippies never die, we just flash back!

Vaya can queso!

Cheese and rice?!?! yuk!!!

At Sea-Tac they're more intrested in "sniffing" my Jansport backpack, than my knives, gerber multitool, or flashlight. Intresting...I guess they're more concerned with "the big stuff."

Check the steel through, and don't tell them about the (hopefully legal-length) ceramic in your boot-top.
