Thanks to Alex for this information on whether the Busse warranty is voided when the blade is modified:

The short answer is technically, yes. Modifications that remove metal from the knives done outside of Busse Combat does void the warranty. However, as it always is, Jerry makes the final call.

Basically, since Busse Combat can't be sure what care was taken by the person who modded the blade in such a way as to remove metal, whether or not the modifications might have affected the heat treat or strength of the blade, they can reserve the right to refuse to honor the warranty on knives that have been altered outside of the Custom Shop. If the micarta breaks, most likely, Jerry would still allow a repair under warranty if the micarta wasn't modded. I don't know about handle slabs that have been removed and then re-attached.

With that said, I know that Ban does quality work, and tries very hard to not affect the heat treat, but again, Busse gets to make the decision. Every time you want to send a knife off to another maker/modder, it is best to assume that the warranty will be void. That way if it is, you were expecting this... And if it is covered, then this is a pleasant surprise.

*DISCLAIMER*: I do not work for, nor represent Busse Combat in any official capacity whatsoever, and their answer may differ from my own. :) To be sure, you can call Amy at Busse Combat to get the official answer as it stands from their viewpoint... and actually, I would recommend that you do reach out to them just to be sure.
