Recently received this knife from Reese. Its the first knife I ordered from him, a long long time ago. He wasn't too sure how it would turn out with those blades, but he was very happy with the way it turned out. I am too. Its the only congress he's made so far with A2 blades.

4 blade 3.5 inch Congress. Acid etched A2 blades, ivory, blued backsprings, flush bowtie shield.

Here's another view. The blades are almost black from the etching.

And yes, I've been carrying it and using it... carefully, of course. There is nothing like A2 when it comes to ease of sharpening, and the razor sharp, toothy edge it takes.

That's a great looking knife Fasteddie! The contrast of blued steel and ivory is really nice. How long is that knife, closed of course? Glad you are carrying it! Too many display case queens in this world!

Its 3.5 inches closed. FYI, Reese makes 3 sizes of 4 blade congresses. 3 inch, 3.5 inch, 4-1/8 inch. He makes the big congress in 5 and 6 blade versions too. There was a 5 blade ivory congress by Tony Bose in the drawing at Blade last June. In less than a day, it had changed hands a couple times, in the end selling for almost double the table price.

This one needs a Bump

I think it's a sin to carry a knife like that.
I think its a sin not to carry it. :) Bose knives aren't just nice looking, they are rugged, sharp, working knives too. I'm not scraping paint or whittling with it or anything like that. Pretty light use, cutting open boxes, sharpening pencils. There are plenty of Bose knives and other traditional customs that are not practical for carry, but this congress was built to be used. The Boses are among the knifemakers who love it when someone carries and uses their creations.

I've seen three that might be a bit nicer. The Tony Bose serial #1 4 blade congress. ATS34 and the most colorful pearl I've ever seen, hand picked by Mr. Culpepper, owner of Mother of Pearl Co who it was made for. In my collection now, and I'd never carry it. Other two were at Blade last year in the Bose drawing. 4.25 closed, 5 blade congresses, one by Reese in stag and one by Tony in Ivory. Oh, and thanks for the bump.

Man, that is just so pretty. If you don't mind me asking, what does a knife like that go for?

Sure, they print a price list, so its no secret. I got it directly from Reese Bose and paid makers price. Base price on a congress from Reese is $950, shield adds 50, ivory adds 225 (bone would have been 100 micarta no charge) shipping 15. So, $1240 delivered. Oh, and add 50 bucks or more if its made by Tony, and factor in a 3-6 year wait to get it. On the secondary market, on the rare occasion that I've seen one for sale, they've gone for 1450 (brown bone) and up. A 5 blade Tony Bose congress in Ivory changed hands at Blade last year for over $3000.
