Just a question of curiosity to the readers, if you were to pair a fixed Large knife, Medium knife, Small knife, and non fixed (folder, butterfly, switch blade, etc.) knife, with each other for all your knife needs, which 4 knives would you select? What is the main area of knife needs; survival/bushcraft, hunting/fishing, kitchen, Martial Arts, etc.? How would you carry the four (neck, boot, sheath, pocket, etc.)?

So far I have whittled my selection down to an 8in Custom Bowie survival knife, Boker Arbolito Bushcraft, Victorinox Rangergrip 78, and CRKT minimalist Bowie... outdoor survival bushcraft use... custom in sheath along hip, Boker sheath in front of leg on other side, victorinox pocket, CRKT neck

I also don’t know if I’d prefer the neck knife over a Gerber EZ out for the possible need or want of a serrated edge, and if that, it would be in my back pocket... but that would be a second folder and not a small fixed

Also, I don’t know how to post pics from my phone, when I tap the pic icon it gives me a place to put in a web address but not upload a pic or take a pic... if someone can share what I’m doing wrong I can post pics of the custom I mentioned and the others if you would like

Right, lol, I think one of the aspects I love about knives and knife folks is we all get to enjoy and carry them the way we like, whether it be 1 at times and Danny Trejo at others, which was why I was curious about the 4 idea, if limited by that or expanded by it, it would be interesting to know what others would choose

Thank you, I got the app and uploaded a pic and copied the link but it says it cannot post the ‘passed link’ idk what that means and would appreciate help understanding if it wouldn’t bother you to answer. Thank you

I wish I could help - I have never seen that error before. :(

The main areas in my case are the kitchen, the yard/garden and utility/EDC.
But these can all be subdivided into sub categories and further multiply with the number of seasons..

I also like to have more folders in different sizes, with different blades like a hawkbill, wharncliffe, serrations, hollow grind, different locks, handle materials, etc), and definitely more than one SAK: Minichamp, Explorer, Cybertool Lite, Pioneer X, Cadet at the very least. Plus a Spirit and a SwissCard Lite.
And then I didn't even thought about kitchen stuff or woodland choppers.

You mention the Spirit and I think of my Cold Steel Bushman Bowie... with all the knives you like for all the reasons, if you had to pick 4 to be what you were limited to, which 4 would you choose?

Well I don’t carry all of them with me but when I go camping, fishing and hunting I have several knives and cutting tools in my gear bag to choose from. Some are duplicates lol.

Otherwise for my edc I usually have a couple of Buck folders I carry with me. A large vantage pro and a 303 stockman. Sometimes I switch up and carry a 110 variety or a marksman or a 112. That assortment usually gets the job done. In my work and everyday ventures a big fixed blade can get in my way and a folder is almost always sufficient for the tasks I come across. So that’s how I roll. For outdoors activities then I’ll strap on a fixed blade of appropriate nature.

The way I look at it is the environment, weather, and activity will dictate what my knife needs are and I have a good selection to pick from.
