One of each kind

You mention the Spirit and I think of my Cold Steel Bushman Bowie... with all the knives you like for all the reasons, if you had to pick 4 to be what you were limited to, which 4 would you choose?

It seems like we are in an endless loop here. :-)

But to humor you - let's say I am down to my Buck/Mayo TNT, the CRK PJ Inkosi Insingo, a Bark River Bravo 1 LT with green Elder burl handles and the Victorinox Spirit with the butter knife blade. I would just start buying more again to arrive roughly at the same models and same numbers I have now, mostly because I do need them. Often I don't even carry anything, because I will have knives in the shed, the workshop, on the desk, on the bedside table, outside on the deck, in my commuter backpack, in my camping backpack, serrated edge Salts for the garden and the boat and so on. I don't even want to think about carrying them. Rather I just want them positioned everywhere strategically, always within reach. Four is just not enough.

And I also like having backups. Yes, I do have a handful of cheaper knives I don't use, such as a Mora and a couple of Condors, and only one expensive folder that is not my style. And I am selling those. But I like everything else in my collection. Many of my knives are reprofiled, modded and customized and because they are perfect for me, I just can't see them going anywhere.

Thank you, I got the app and uploaded a pic and copied the link but it says it cannot post the ‘passed link’ idk what that means and would appreciate help understanding if it wouldn’t bother you to answer. Thank you

V VallesRobertsonII this link will take you right to a post for how to post pictures. Go to the very first post, second paragraph, follow the instructions and remember to follow the ones for Free Members/Non Paying Members (that’s you).

Also your pictures need to be under 1mb in size, otherwise you will get error codes and downloading stalls.

You can also use that same exact thread to practice posting your pictures, that’s what it is there for and nobody will care how many times you try. We all had to learn at some point, you aren’t alone by any means.

Give it a few more tries, I’m sure you are very close, don’t give up.

Remember, you are a free/non paid member & picture size under 1mb.

Here is the direct link to that thread:

It would depend on where I'm going and what I'll be doing. I normally carry 5 knives as EDC. My main knife is of course my gorgeous Carothers DEK1 with a Gerber Gator 650, Kershaw Launch 1, Buck 301, and a Steel Warrior in case someone needs to borrow a knife from me. That may change when I receive my pre-ordered DEK2. We'll see.

Large - Estwing camp axe
Medium - Becker bk16
Small - Becker bk14
Folder - Benchmade 940-1

I just got back from a week of camping in a beachfront condo in Gulf Shores Alabama. I took a Mora Companion, a classic birch handle Rapala filet, a Dozier design Kabar folder and an SAK Officer's model. Used them all. It was tough, but I made it, so don't pay the ransom.

Hi Boattale Boattale , did you mention recently something about Case Copperhead, and that you like it? If so, can this be trusted to be taken outdoors without worry of blade wobble after some moderate use? I got this knife recently, and really like it, but somehow I am not sure about its reliability. Thanks!

If we are only talking knives for cutting implements then I would choose:

Realistically on my budget and train of thought:
Large- Becker BK62
Medium- Buck 102 (420hc version)
Small- ESEE Izula (1095 version)
Folder- SAK (Recruit, Spartan, or Farmer)

If money wasn’t a consideration and things such as ease of sharpening in the field didn’t matter:
Large- Carothers Kephart (3v version)
Medium- Buck 102 (s35vn version)
Small- ESEE Izula (1095 version)
Folder- SAK (Recruit, Spartan, or Farmer)

Edit to say:
If we are going all out apocalypse survival scenario, then I would just let the zombies eat me. But, if I had to pick in that situation, I would need a 5.56, 12ga, 9mm, folding saw, hatchet, fixed blade, and multitool 😂

It's as reliable as any slipjoint folding knife. Perfectly happy with mine, and I actually donated one to the Case pass around that's happening now.
