Hey guys havent been on here showing any new blades for a while, but finally got some o1 and will be making a matching set of neckers for me and a friend next week or so and when finished will show or a wip maybe? Heres a picture of my third knife(up to around 15 now) i believe. I made it around 2 years ago. At the time i was rather unsuccessful in doing an even grind and put it down. But i found it the other day and decided i should give it the grind it deserves. 1/8 1095 convex grind then micro beveled and is screaming sharp. Heat treated in a small forge and clay quenched and then tempered at 450. I will be rehandling since i had to remove some from the front to grind it how i do now. After testing it hard I am glad to say it perform very well, and for as good as a 15 year old could heat treat then. It was brought to critical temp and held for around 5 minutes then water quenched. My question is at 450 temper what should be the general hardness? I hit the edge hard on another piece of steel and it only put a tiny ding, and it held its edge for a good while and was easy to sharpen. Heres a picture after etching. Like i said, new handles to come and may update with a new pic then.
